Our first chapter opens with us feeling the usual fears and confusion of: open¬ ing lockers, finding rooms, being afraid of seniors, and our first taste of Mr. Defeo. Class officers were Troy DePriest, Tammy (ardin, Patty Kerns, joe Koster, and Wayne Leland. Mr. and Miss were Ken Grant and . Kathy Corey. Before even being acquainted with the High School the asbestos crisis struck, bringing us all to the grammar school in Tisbury. We all learned the need to raise money; however, success didn ' t come as easy to us as it did for some. We ended our first year with very little money and we were dubbed by many as the worst class in school history. Boy, did we have alot to prove. In Chapter 2 the school became less foreign and more like a home. As Sophomores, life was more relaxed and we began to enjoy the benefits of meeting one another at parties, sporting events, and other school functions. Class officers were Simone DeSorcy, Joe Koster, Barbara Lampson, Debbie McHugh, and David Parker. Mr. and Miss were Bubba Rudolph and Simone DeSorcy. Our sophomore year was one of transition, as a new principal brought in new ideas that changed much of what we had grown accustomed to. We struggled through, and before we knew it we were upperclassmen. Our big event in Chapter 3 was our Junior Prom. Raising money became a severe problem. With the help of bake sales, candy stands at basketball games, and an understaffed car wash with Mr. Cormier manning the hose, we put on one of the most exciting proms ever. Moonlight Magic was a success!! Prom Queen and King were Patti Kerns and Ken Grant, and on her court were Mary Bernard, Dorothy Bagwell, Shauna White, Sharon Steere, Simone DeSorcy, and Janet Pachico. Class officers were Theresa Bettencourt, Simone DeSorcy, Barbara Lampson, Marilda Viera, and Kim Wendell. Mr. and Miss were Bubba Rudolph and Dot Bagwell Senior year, our final chapter, Where has all the time gone to? Over the past four years we have learned more about the meaning of responsibility and authority. The unique quality and environment of island life has allowed us to develop significant values and pursuits which should help us to become mature contributing members of society. We must thank all of those who helped us along the way: especially Mr.Cormier and Mrs. Murphy, who learned to put up with our imperfections. Graduation will mark the end of this story, but new ones for each individual. Even though we are going our own ways, we will still be together in heart and soul. We have all gained a little something from the Class of 1982, both insights and memories that will stay with us forever.
