With two seniors, with two juniors, Annett and Emerson, and a sophomore, Miller, as guards, the team completed their schedule with an impressive victory over New Virginia, the final score being 36-ll. Gerald Crawford, Richard Brown iff iff it it A lack of size and experience was overcome by team spirit and team play, and the team finished the season with 8 wins, and 14 losses. A steady improvement was made throughout the season, and the boys hit their stride in the county tournament, where they defeated Liberty Center, who had de- feated them twice in the earlier part of the season, and went on to win over Hartford, displaying some of the finest basketball playing seen in the tournament. Their two victories qualified them for the finals. where they were defeated by Norwalk by a score of 25-12. Composing the starting lineup in the majority of the games were: one senior, Wie-dmzn.i: one junior, Sinn, and three sophomores, Kleymunn, Newell, and Crawford. 'ik' il' Sir The Martensdale lligh School baseball squad completed their 1945 fall season with 5 straight wins to complete a record of 8 wins, and -1 losses. During the last 415 years, the baseball teams have won 78 games and lost 23. Two of the losses were from Truro. one from St, Marys. and one from Patterson. .Xt the beginning of the fall season, the boys were fortunate in being presented with new warm-up jackets. which they used also for basketball. Martensdale was host to the sectional tournament, in which seven teams participated. Our team was defeated in the first round by Truro, o-5, who went on to take the sectional championship. Las!
