Upon arriving at the airport. I found that my pilot was none other than Jack L'Estrange. He said he was working for the National Airways. We took off but before we were fairly started we had to make a forced landing in a large field near Norwalk. Iowa. A little old lady came hobbling out to the plane. She had just received her old age pension. which would buy some beans to keep her from starving. We recognized her to be Honora Hill of old school days. She thought the plan for a reunion was a good one and was ready to start. We landed next at a large ranch. Here we found Paul Miller and Doris Crow. Paul said that they had lived in a two room apartment, but since the twins had arrived, they had to move to the ranch. After we all piled in the plane started. Something happened, we were running out of gas. Doris spied an oil station, what a wonder here in the sticks. A lady came to meet us and who should it be but Marcella Graham. Her theory had been to keep one foot on the ground, but she finally consented to join us and after giving instructions to her old man we left. Honora suggested that we listen to the radio. We tuned in the football game and whom should we hear but Donald Smith calling the plays. He was so excited that he could hardly announce the Notre Dame game. He called the coach over to talk and we were surprised when we heard Gerald Martens speaking to us. He is now one of the world's star athletes. Jack immediately headed for Notre Dame where we piclzed up Donald and Gerald. Donald said that Mary L. West was one of the greatest women lawyers of Reno and was swamped by the great stars of Hollywood. Arriving at Reno, we found Mary working on the divorce case of Reba Brownlie Sayre vs. B. J. Sayre. They had been believed the happiest couple in Hollywood. He charged her with too much of a stay-at-home attitude and she charged him with desertion. Mary hated to leave her work but finally decided to join us. When we arrived at the Sayre home we found Reba alone and she had no idea where B. J. could be found. We stayed with Reba until B. J. came-which was nearly dawn. We soon left on our trip again. Suddenly the clouds became black and the wind began to blow. Marcella wanted to jump but we wouldn't let her. She finally jumped and we saw her 'shute billowing in the wind. Jack became excited and lost control of the plane. We landed, quite shaken up, in the top of a tree. The boys walked to the nearest town to get a mechanic, while we girls searched for Marcella. The boys returned before we could get Marcella, who had been injured. to the plane. The mechanic was Chip Kellar, who had become a multi-millionaire by repairing planes. He liked the work so much that he did it himself. The Doctor was introduced as Doc Sinn whom we knew as John Sinn. After fixing Marcella for the journey he decided to take his vacation now and see his class- mates. Martensdale. as you know, is now a suburb of Des Moines. Where we spent our happy school days was a night club owned by William Cellan whom you remember as the quiet boy of our class. Bill gave us a banquet that evening, which we all en- joyed. Reba and B. J. decided to get married again. Mr. Littelle who had decided preaching would make a better living than teaching, married them.-E. Casey for their years of service and friendship. Dur- ing the nine and a half years Mr. and Mrs. Casey were connected with the faculty they hrought ahout many improvements and initiated a number of the schools prized traditions. CRAMER T We started in our freshman year with fourteen members and after many Z changes we now number fifteen. In our sophomore year, Florence Fryer, Alice Hoelt- L ing. Helen Faber, Mary Catherine Johnson and Roy Cassady joined us from Church- I ville, and Raymond Duffy from Patterson. L The following people have won letters in Basketball, Garold McConnell. Berline i Frazier, Helen Faber and Raymond Duffy. The last two have left our ranks. Joyce Mar- ? tens, Audrey Huss' and Albert Gavin have won scholarship letters. Roy Cassady and l Garuld McConnell have won letters in Baseball. ? All on Account of Polly, a three-act comedy was presented October 22 by our class in the school auditorium. Garoldl McConnell as Baldwin, a reckless, lovable spendthrift, and Georganna Meilike as Polly Perkins, a sweet unaffected, country 2 girl, were the leading characters. Each member of the cast gave a good performance L and the audience was furnished with plenty of laughs. The proceeds were used for the I Junior-Senior banquet. l We are sorry to see the class of '38 leave our assembly. We have enjoyed their i company and hope to fill the vacancies left by this good class.
