Twelve speakers were listed but on account of bad roads some were unable to be present. The winners were: Oratorical, Burl Beamg dramatic, Ruth Howell, humorous, Maxiene Smith. These winners competed in the. sub-county contest at Norwalk w-here we were awarded second place in both oratorical and dramatic divisions. Miss Brock coached the contestants. GRADE DECLAMATORY 9999 nag -ls 0 Less interest than usual was taken in grade declamatory this year. Marie Weil won in dramatic with Alice Miller second. Albert gg Gavin won in the humorous division. He also took second in the sub' 9 county contest at Spring Hill. Other speakers in the home contest were G9 Naomi Walston and joyce Martens. There were no oratorical con- 3 testants. Miss Henderson was in charge. Q Many useful and welcome gifts donated to the school in the past are as follows: Class IQZ3-Stage front curtain. , Class l93ll-Trophy case. ig Class l03l-Electric clock. if Class l932-Framed pictures. :E Class 1933-Steel file. WILBUR BELL 5 Secretary ......... jo MONROE 2 The Letter Club, an organization. founded in l928, is composed of the winners of letters in Martensdale High School. -Active membership terminates with graduation. Twice each year candidates are initiated 9 with rigorous ceremonies. Requirements for letters are set by the members of the Club and all letters standardized.
