Boys' Chorus There were nine boys who joined together to form the boys' chorus, The members are Billy Gardner, David Walter, John Baer, Eddie Reed, Bob Vaughn, Raymond Barr Jim Berry, Paul Thacker, and Tom Wyckoff. The boys elected the following for their officers: President ......... Eddie Reed Secretary-Treasurer, Jim Berry Vice President ...... Paul Thacker Librarian .....A . . . Bob Vaughn This year there is no boys' chorus singingat the Marion County Music Festival. Instead, the boys of the county will join with the girls in a county-wide mixed chorus. We are working on the music for this group as well as learning songs which we may present at a future assembly program and Community Club. Mixed Chorus h Fourteen girls and eight boys make up the mixed chorus this year, In February we held an election for officers. They are as follows: President ........ Janet Goken Secretary-Treasurer , Mary Lou I-Ionaker Vice President ..... Jim Berry Librarian ......... Ruth Coulter Tryouts are to be held in this group to determine who will participate in the county festival. We, too, are working on this music, as well as music for Community Club and We have just the senior band this year, The members of the band this year are: assembly programs. Mary Lou Honaker The band meets as a group on Wednesday and on Friday sectional rehearsals are held. This year we have a floating schedule which eliminates any student from missing a certain class each day we rehearse. As in the other music groups we will have tryouts to determine who attends the county - wide festival. When the annual went to the printers we were working only on county music. We hope to have a much larger band by next year for there are many boys and girls taking instrumental lessons this year, Mrs. Bailey has arranged for any student who desires to practice at school to practice during a study hall period in the former cafeteria in the basement or in the music room on the days we have no music.

The girls' chorus had been organized last spring and those who had participated in it last spring had their pictures taken, After Christmas Mrs. Carl Bailey was hired as music teacher and various music groups were organized, The girls elected the following officers for their group: President ......... Jewell Grimes Vice President ............ Betty Baer Secretary-Treasurer .... Shirley Pursley Librarian .................... Ruth Coulter At the time this annual went to press the girls were working on music for the Marion County Music Festival. The festival will be held some time in April at the Marion County Coliseum. We plan to sing at a spring Community Club meeting and at one of the pre-Easter assembly programs. This year we areto have tryouts to be permitted to go to the music festival, These will be held in March. Only those who can sing the music with 9070 and above accuracy will be permitted to go.
