p History The History of the class of 1957, of Martel Local High School of Martel, Ohio began in 1945, when there 'entered these portals of learning thirteen seekers of wisdom. Some came from Martel, some from other places. As time passed, friend- ship grew and high school became an accepted thing. We were now upstairs, where we found our school life to be very different and interesting, Both the boys and girls enjoyed the Junior High Basketball, The year 1953, found us with a new name, Freshmen, and the ordeal of going through Freshman initiation. Time was taken up with wiener roasts and ice cream socials. In 1954, we were Sophomores, skating became important in the lives of all. Most of the boys were on the reserve basketball team, which was doing a very good job, At this time, some who could not stand the pressure of duty, disappeared from the hall of wisdom. Some new students added new interests to the class, as it traveled merrily on its way. In 1955, we were Juniors: how intellectual we thought we were. We ordered our class rings and sponsored the Junior Class Play, Fools'Will Be Fools . We also sold refreshments at the home basketball games. The Junior -Senior banquet was the outstanding activity. The Seniors were overcome with the beauty of the tables and good food, the beautiful flowers and the resulting good time enjoyed by all. When the Senior year finally arrived, the 'class of 1957 really began to make a showing, not only in grades, but in extracurricular adventures, 'sponsoring dances, parties etc. We had our Senior Class Play, Grandma How Could You? which was a great success. We slowly forced onward our travel fund, with the slogan On to Washington and New York. One duty we Seniors looked forward to choosing was caps and gowns, invitations and commencement speaker. Then commencement activities were over along with good-byes, the next week we left on our trip. We all had a good time and have many memories. With everything over the Senior Class of 57 was now ready to move forward into a completely diff- erent world. We leave this thought to you. Leaving dear old Martel High On Graduation night Hoping that from here on out Everything goes right All of us together Will find some work to do, But you Juniors, now we leave Some work for you. As we go out in this wide world We hope we have success. Then some day, we may leave A fortune to MHS. So teachers, Friends, and parents, Our work at school is done. And now we leave Martel High To each and everyone,

Prophecy May 5, 2025 Dear Diary: Tonight the Class of 1957, held its annual reunion at Rainbow Gardens, Isle in the Sky. As we walked up the golden stairs we were greeted at the gate by DAVID WALTER. David, as you know, is the proprietor of this Isle in the Sky and he suggested we hold this yea:-'s reunion on his estate in the sky, As we entered the beautiful gardens, the butler took our apparel and who was the butler? None other than an old' schoolmate JAMES STINEHELFER. Jim escorted us to the drawing room and introduced us to an old friend our own SANDRA VAUGHN, as she was to be the hostess for the evening, Sandy always was one for parties. As she began to introduce us to the guest, our first warm greeting was from SHIRLEY PURSLEY and BETTY BAER. They informed us that they are now ern- ployed stenographers for the famous actor Elvis Presley. As we strolled around the drawing room taking in the beauty of it, we wandered into the beautiful corridors. As we started down the halls of beauty we saw a fam- iliar face it was CHARLOTTE STEVENS, we stopped to chat for a moment, Charlotte told us she is now living in France and models for the famous Christian Dior. She always was one for the flat look. As we excused ourselves and walked on we found ourselves on the terrace talk- ing to RUBY HOLYCROSS, Ruby told us she was to do the entertaining for the even- ing, Ruby as you know is the famous Rock'n Roll Ruby known as the three R's from Tennessee, As we turned to walk away we heard a voice we turned to see who was calling, who do we see but PATTY HILL, Pat is now the leader of the famous Champagne Musical Orchestra, Pat always did play the sax well. Asjt is nearing party time we find ourselves back in the drawing room, where we are offered some punch, and who do you suppose the bartender is ? None other than WILLIAM GARDNER, Bill always was one for mixing up, The evening goes on and now it is nearing twelve and as we discuss the evening and everyone's different occupations and their lives we are still glad JOYCE STALEY decided to be a lawyer handling divorce cases, .To is very good at argifrig since she is a divorcee herself. . And ANGELINE RAKES is glad that she is an airline stewardess and flies all over the world, Angie plans to stop in on this beautiful Isle in the Sky on her next flight to Mars ...... ..................
