School Board Thb School Board ls composed of five members. Three members: Mr. Goken, Mr. Fabian, and Mr. Clever are serving their third year on the board. Mr. Rice and Mr. Huntsman are the new members, chosen in the last election. Mr. Goken is serving his first year as President: Mr. Fabian is the Vice President: and Mr. Clarence Tropf is the clerk. Community Club Our Community Club is now three years old. It Includes everyone ln the community who cares to attend. The officers for this year are: fPresldent........ ..Mr. Cloyd Rice Vice President... .. Mr. Wallace Lyon Secretary...... ...Mr. Salo Leathem Treasurer........ .... .. ..........Mr. E. I. l-llssong Meetings are held once a month. Each meeting consists of: group singing, devotions, a business meeting, program, and a social hour. Each meeting is planned with some special interest in mind. The club has had several speakers and other entertainers from outside the community, who brought interesting talks and nice entertainment for all. ln October, the Community Club sponsored a Halloween Carnival. The Carnival was very successful and was enjoyed by the community. I I Band Parents Association, This ls the first year for the Band Parents Assoclatlon, which was or- ganized to aid the financial status of the band over and above what the School Board ls able to do, and to further help the band and to create interest in lt. Their meetings are held the flrst Wednesday of each month at the schoolhouse. The officers for thls year are: Presldent............ ....Mr. Elmer Leathem Vlce President... ...Mrs. Neil Welrlck Secretary....... ....Mrs. Wallace Lyon Treasurer..........................Mrs. Thomas Fabian The Band Parents purchased green and white saddle shoes and green neckerchiefs which along with white shirts and blue jeans made up the uniform for Martel's band. They hope to be able to purchase regular band uniforms ln the near future. They sponsored a Leap Year dance February 29 to raise money for this fund. Small attendance--Hunting season opened. lst ballgame at Iberia. Seniors went to Delaware to get pictures take Magazine drive closed--Seniors beat Juniors. Thanksgiving program. Seniors choose invitations and name cards. lst league game with Pleasant here. Played Whetstone there. Every pupil Test. Played Green Camp there. County Prince of Peace Contest at Salem U.B Played Meeker here. Won this onel . Church Girls' Chorus sang at Martel and Iberia churches. Snowed hard and drifted--School until 11:30. No school--too much snow. Alumni banquet. Christmas exchange--Hi-life published. Played Waldo here and won. Band played. District Prince of Peace Contest in Columbus. Mr. 'Cubberly here to take group pictures. Junior High-Grand Prairie and Varsity-Alumni games. Mrs. Knlght's last day and Mrs. Justus's first. Community Club. Played LaRue there and won 61-621 Played Donia here. Band played. Band program sponsored by Grange. Played Mortal there. Played Prospect there. Played Claridon here. Famers' Institute.
