Class Will We, the class of 1952, in the town of Martel, county of Marion, and state of Ohio, being in as good mental condition as usual, and in much better temper than usual, do hereby make this our last will and testament. Jon Elliott wills his ability to get along with Mr. Walters to Sonny Worcester, who can be just as stubborn as Jon. Maxine Reed wills her ability to get out of semester tests to Carol Relsh, and her typing ability to Shirley Smith. Melvin Hlssong gives his tallness to Kenneth Barden: he'1l need it if he expects to stay on the basketball team. Junior Prlce leaves his ability to pester Mr. Ransbottom to Gale Loyer We're sure he can do as well as Junior, lf not better. Kenneth Pletcher wllls his curly hair to Jimmy Miner. Wonder if Jimmy will put it up every night as Kenny did. Dorls Vollrath wills her position as majorette in the band to Barbara Wilson. Wonder if she can start the band as well as Doris dldr Joyce Roesch wills her cheeleeading ability to Beverly Smith, and her shortness to Penny Hayes. Betty Lynch wills her pleasing personality to Marlene Weirlck, and her volleyball ability to Mildred Roesch. Rodney Baldlnger wllls his like of school to Bill Vollrath, and his cheer- ful smile to Mr. Mulidor. Item-- To the future Senior Class, our rightful heirs, we leave our impor- tance and privileges as Seniors, our books and our seats by the window. Also any notebooks, pencils, combs, unfinished lolly-pops, or unfinished business, including debts contracted whlle engaged in the business of being a Senior. Item-- To the Sophomore Class, our good friends, we leave our patience. lt will be found useful as the only means by which they can endure the upper classmen. Item-- To the young Freshmen, we leave a map of the school building. Item-- To the faculty, we give a sense of relief that we have at least graduated, pleasant memories of our years together and a feeling of pride ln any great deeds or noteworthy achievements that our future may contain. Item-- To our dear old school building itself, we leave the peaceful quiet caused by our absence and our well marked seats and desks. Item-- Besides all these bequests we leave our best wishes to any and all who may desire them, also our blessings and our forgiveness for anything not appreciated. CIBSS PfOPl'l2Cy We have a large room, empty but for two people and a grand piano. A small boy wlth a look of agony on his face is trying to play exercise Number 13, as his teacher looks on. She is determinedly counting one, two, and three-four. At last she sweeps the child off the stool and plays the exercise, making the mechanical precision sound interesting. She ls Maxine Reed, with fingers as nimble as ever. It ls nine o'clock ln the morning and the school bell ls ringing. Children are hurrying up the walk to greet their teacher. She ls standing at the door and as she leans forward to take the flowers, a little girl has brought her, we can see it is Joyce Roesch. We see a room decorated with hair drlers and curlers. We recognize the place as the largest beauty salon in New York City. Many of the great celebrities are having their hair restyled. There comes the manager through the door now and it ls Betty Lynch. The scene becomes noisy. Buzzing and ringing fill our ears. We see a long room around which are seated many girls. lt ls a telephone office. The head operator is Doris Vollrath. We knew her as soon as she said, 'The llne ls busy . We go now to a crowded rlngslde in Chicago. Fans are going wild over the fight. lt ls the match everyone has been waiting for. The world's champion ls defending his title, When the fight draws to a close, the referee announces, 'The winner and still undefeated champ, Junior Price. In the distance a new house ls being built, then another, and another. As we go closer we can see the office buildlng's sign reading, Mel's Home Construction Company. Then a prosperous farm house appears. In a nearby field, tractor, plows and discs are being used to prepare the ground for crops. As we come near we recognize Rodney, his wife, Mamie, and their four little Baldingers. Now we see a room in disorder and a man on all fours, looking at the rug through a magnifying glass. ln one pocket is a notebook labeled, clues , In the other is a pair of handcuffs. He acts very peculiar. Now he rises, he turns towad us, and we recognize him as Ion Elliott. This is the result of the mystery stories he was always reading. A figure, wearing a stunning uniform, rides toward us. He stops his horse and reads a sign offering a reward of many thousands of dollars for the capture of a murderer at large ln the Martel Territory. Now he is smiling and we can hear him saying, 'The Mountles always get their man. He is one of those romantic heroes, a Mounted Policeman. As he rldes nearer, we recognize him. lt ls Kenneth Pletcher, as handsome as ever. 13
