The plot revolves around the antics of Iimmy Haleon played by Fred Giles, who wants to be a pilot His father, George l-laleon played by lim McDonald, is opposed to Iimmy's desire to fly, and it is only through certain adventures and sometimes difficult situations that Iimmy finally wins his fathers interest and permission to fly a plane. With six lettermen returning, the Tigers were worked into a wellerounded team. They won two games and lost five. They piled up 71 points to their opponents' 128. The maiority of the games were played in bad weather which greatly hampered the play of both teams, The Tigers were also hard hit by injuries. The loss of Mike Braem, 230 pound veteran center, was a hard blow to the Tigers. Although he played only one full game, Mike was given an honorable mention in the allvconference ratings. Mike Thom, rangy Tiger end, was chosen for all-conference honors. His aggressiveness on defense and ability to score on offense made him an outstanding end. MARSHFIELD-WISCONSIN RAPIDS After two weeks of practice, the Tigers opened their 1942 season successfully by defeating Wisconsin Rapids by a score of 14 to 0. The entire game was played in a downpour of rain. The Tigers scored on two touchdown drives, but the Raiders fell short on three drives. lt was Coach Cole's 39th consecutive victory for his teams. MARSHFIELD-ANTIGO Although outplayed in the first three quarters, the Tigers came back with two touchdowns in the last quarter, but fell short of victory by one point. The Ants emerged victorious by a score of 14 to 13. MARSHFIELD-MERRILL The Tigers invaded a vastly improved Merrill team only to be on the short end of a 14 to O score. I-Iindered by a wet field fumbles were frequent The Tigers badly outplayed and outfought never threatened Merrills su premacy MARSHFIELD RHINELANDER Playing their second home game the Tigers were defeated by Rhinelander 24 to O On the kickoff the Hodag machine started to roll and scored a touchdown Although they fought hard the Tigers couldnt stop the 1-loclags who rolled up three more touchdowns before the game ended to leave the Tigers on the short end of a 24 to O score MARSI-IFIELD WAUSAU In a clash with the Lumberyacks their homecoming Marshfield was badly outplayed and came out of the game with a 45 to O score Playing both a good offensive and defensive game the powerful Lumberyacks held the Tigers at bay MARSHFIELD STEVENS POINT Before a large homecoming crowd the Stevens Point Panthers defeated the Tgers by a score of 31 to O ln getting their 31 points the Panthers scored in every period Points passing ability proved to be the deciding factor of the game in that four touchdowns were scored via the air The Tiaers defense proved to be faulty at times but showed its ability to stop the Pointers on the ground MARSHFIELD NEKOOSA In the last game of the season the Tigers defeated Nekoosa before a large homecoming crowd at Nekoosa They literally swamped the Papermakers by a count of 44 to U Showing the form that they displayed in the first game of the season the Tigers showed superior force all the way Nekoosa nex er threatened lt was the Paper makers seventh straight loss of the season ls 51 5 R. .tu .hh Top Row M Iackson I Mau I Copp W Uthmeier I Reeths I Wilcott C Schmitt P Oppmann G Ledger K Kraemer I Schulte Third Row I Wensmg S Heuer W Specht I.
