m TIDE 1985 MARSHFIELD HIGH SCHOOL MARSHFIELD MA. ON THE COVER 4 ADMINISTRATION AND FACULTY 34 ACTIVITIES 72 SPORTS Tide, the traditional name of the Marsh- field High School yearbook, is the only requirement, and hence restriction, in- volved in the creation of a yearbook theme, and as it turned out. Tide is per- fect for the theme, in fact, created the theme. Not, however, that the yearbook is filled with beach scenes. Rather, the theme is that of a magazine format. Looking at slides of many yearbook cov- ers with the hope of stimulating ideas, we in the art class saw a cover made up of all of a school’s previous covers. This Year in Time, that’s what the format re- sembled. r me- how similar to TidelVlhy not base the yearbook on Time maga- zine? Thus, you have a special edition of Tide magazine, The Graduate.’’ June 1st, circled on the back cover, marks the day when you will be a graduate. We will be graduates. Together we will say good-bye to one part of life, realizing, however, that the memories of the past four years have climaxed in a new hello. Here are those memories. 106 SENIORS 1985 TIDE As we look back on our high school years, how could we ever forget Mr. Bartlett. He could make us laugh at the worst jokes even at the worst of times. Mr. Barlett put a lot of time and effort into the class of ’85 and he will always be remembered in our foundest memo- ries. We thank you and will miss you 2 DEDICATION Mr. Zicko is a special and unique per- son. He is dedicated to both his subject and students. His humor and friendship aided the students through some seem- ingly mundane days at Marshfield High School. The class of ’85 would like to thank Mr. Zicko for all his help and en- couragement throughout the year He shall never be forgotten. ADMINISTRATION V T Seated: John Creed. As halftime rolled around, the band members, majorettes, and cheerleaders demonstrated the results of their long practices in front of a cheering crowd. The anticipation built up until the highlight of the day arose. Three representative girls were cho- sen for the Homecoming Court. Second runner up was Kelly Brennan; first runner up was Hope Concannon, and Queen drumroll please Michelle Gregory. After a disappointing game loss, 0-27, to Plymouth Carver, crowds flocked home to rest up before the dance. This time the king and princes were honored. Tim Madden was our second runner up, Jeff Webber, our first runner up and King - Paul Caraher. Flowers and gifts were given to these recipients as well as semifinalists Jamie Emanuel, Jenny Emerson, Ann Margaret Young, Kyle Rand, Craig Fossella, and Steve Ledogar. w -i f a ■ ' BKsfli V jy Jr (Sjlip r aS f : A i ' f . i K ' i ' ' ' ifep j VI S|h£j Band members: Laura Abbate, David Arnold, Krissy Atwater, Thad Baker, Todd Baker, Julie Bastien, Peter Bastien, Susan Batchelor, Laura Bicknell, Christine Billings, Karen Brazil, Mark Brown, Matt Bruce, Eric Bryant, Lisa Cahill, Chester Cain, Karen Campbell, Christy Carlson, Rob Carlson, Gretchen Carney, Donna Carver, Kerrie Carver, Kevin Cedrone, Andy Chandler, Eunice Chase, Steve Cheeseman, Bill Chiano, Ann Marie Christy, Jeff Colby, Jennifer Corwin, David Crest, Shiela Crosby, Julie Daniele, Tina Davis, Jared Deorsay, Kathy DeVries, Beth Donovan, Loni Eldridge, Amy Farriello, Jim Fin- ucane, Andy Firhrohr, Katie Forrester, John Frazee, Derek Gently, Tim Gill, Wendy Goodwin, Mike Hacking, John Hahn, Chris Hansel, Susan Hathaway, Chris Hawley, Peter Hayes, Robin Hayes, Tammy Hayes, Mark Hilard, Beth Jack- son, Beth Jackson, Chris Jordan, Jessica Joyce, Dana Junior, Heidi Kellen, Jeff Kenny, Tanya Krasnigor, Mark La Monica, Kim Larson, Kent Lawson, Mitch Leamen, Scott Little, Kathy Loeffler, Mike Logue, Angela Mazzapica, Kerri McAuliffe, Pam McCarthy, Paige McCracken, Beth McGinn, Kirsten McCue, Mary McLaugh- lin, Ingrid Meiser, Karen Montanari, Paul Na- gle, Nancy Niedowski, Charise Nigrelli, Connie Nista, Liz 0 Neal, Greg Palmer, Debbie Pearl- man, Matt Pearson, Chip Petrizzi, Kari Phinney, John Platt, Susan Powers, Cheryl Reynolds, Cheryl Richards, John Round, Betsy Ruggles, Adam Soosman, Cheryl Spencer, Doug Stuffle- beam, John Sullivan, Chris Teuton, Julie Unis, Sheri Walton, Todd Wheeler, Gary Worley, Beth Wright, Jay Youngclause HOT ROD CLUB Michelle Gray, Sully, Goomba, Skipper, Bill Hurley, Lisa Nash, Mr. Herman, Sadie Herman, Hillner, Bob Franzosa, Steve Young, Chiistopher Firnrohr, Shawn Tellier, Euclid. AIR GUITAR DANCE On December 8, the class of 86 held the annual Air Guitar Dance. Eight fantastic guests showed up to make the night a hit. The night started off with Cindy Lauper proving to the crowd that girls do just wanna have fun. Then came Twisted Sis- ter, and of course they wanted to rock. Queen came out next, and they wanted to rock you, but that wouldn’t work because Maria Vidal wanted to get the crowd into body-rock. The Pointer Sisters came out with a Jump, and after that Chaka-chan just had to feel for you. To almost make the night complete, the great Hall and Oates showed up with a Big Bam Boom. After all these stars had their chance to get the crowd going, John Travolta and his greased crew brought the crowd alive. It was an easy win for Greased Lightning as the best performance of the night. DRAMA CLUB In September of 1984, the Marshfield High School Drama C lub began produc- tion of the thriller Bad Seed under the direction of its new advisor, Mr. Pe- ter Kates. Mr. Kates was aided by Kimm Upton as assistant director and Jenna Hewitt as stage manager. Leading the cast were, Kirsten Peterson and Christine Billings, and strong sup- porting roles were added by Ellen M. Sheehan, Tim Anderson, Jason Altieri, Greg Palmer, Dennis Carchia, Jen Mc- Carthy, Leon Whittemore, Jennifer Ma- tulewicz and Greg Hewitt. After the performance of Bad Seed” in early December, the Drama Club began work on two productions-a student di- rected one-act play called Overtones”, and a musical play titled Once Upon A Mattress.” Following our presentation in March, the Drama Club will present a new three-act play. The 1984-85 Drama Club officers are: Kimm Upton, President; Ellen M. Shee- ham, Vice-President; Michelle Huhnke, Secretary; Beazie Chase Jeanna Hewitt, Treasurers; and Kirsten Peter- son, Promotional Manager. 60 CONTEMPORARY MOCK WEDDING The junior and senior Contemporary Living Classes staged their wedding and reception on January 11, 1985 in the Upper Library. HUPPRICH The senior class would like to thank Mr. Edward Hupprich for all the time and effort that he has put into the class of 1985. He has been with us for four fun- filled years and he has offered us excel- lent counseling through all our class projects, beginning with the freshman fashion show and continuing right up through graduation. There were times that the class officers and class mem- bers were tired and unwilling to cooper- ate, but that never dampened Mr. Hup- prich’s spirit. He stood by us in the worst of times and congratulated us in the best of times. Not only was Mr. Hup- prich an advisor helping out, but also a friend when needed. We have shared many laughs and triumphs with him and he will be long-remembered with all of our high school memories. 1 M V M Vi V Congratulations To The Class Of 1985 Restaurant - Cocktail Lounge Rte 139 • Marshfield Mass 68 937 R Webster St. Marshfield Plaza • Floral Arrangements • Plants • Gifts 837-1000 .tiSSSo.
