TABLE OF CONTENTS MARSHFIELD HIGH SCHOOL MARSHFIELD MASSACHUSETTS Introduction Dedication Musical Superlatives Seniors Activities Sports Administration r Faculty Senior Superlatives A d vertisemen ts iq INTRODUCTION Music has played a big part in our lives over the past four years; and because of this the class of 1981 has decided to use it as the theme of the yearbook. Music is composed of many different styles like rock, punk, classical, and jazz. Just as Marshfield High is composed of many differ- ent kinds of people. Music is a reflection of our tastes. We show this through our activities, clothes, and even bumper stickers. Music is a major part of our academic lives. How often have you ignored a teachers words of wisdom to listen to a friends description of the Bob Seger concert last nigh t? Or have your intellectual thq hts on Shakespeare ever been transferred to the sound of some stu- dent’s radio as he passes by your classroom? Can you actually imagine sitting down at a esk andnot reading “Aerosmith is 1”? uiAlfl pas also been greatly involved in our sociaTn s. A party wasn’t a party wi out the sounds of the Kinks, or the Cars fuling the rooiA. Cruising certainly would have teen dull without COZ blasting out of thp indows. Even the biggest sociatevent f the ear, the Prom, centered around music. f Music creates fond melkories i r us all. What person can’t remember gettiiK down to the disco sound as Freshmen amd Sopho- mores? As we matured and beetle upper- classmen, our musical taste also matured, as we made the transition from DalM orman to Duane Glasscock. I Our music will always stay wim us. Years from now some nostalgic D.J. ill play a Stones song, and in our mindsiwe will be transferred back to McDonald’s, checking out the action on a Saturday night. | .-ex 1981 TIDE DEDICATION Mr. Robert Clark • Mr. Joe Connors We the class of 1981 have chosen to dedicate our yearbook to a teacher at M.H.S. who has not only helped many students, but has also encouraged and influenced them throughout their school years. If anyone would cheer you on a gloomy day, or tell a funny joke to make you laugh when you were down, Mr. Clark would certainly win the prize. Mr. Clark is a dedicated business teacher, not only to his work, but to his students. We leave with fond memories of a most memorable person. Through rain, sleet, biting winds, and blistering heat, he was always there. He guarded our lowliest Corsals to our 1980 TransAms. He kept us in line, and his constant smile helped us to face another grinding day at Marshfield High School. He is Joe Connors, loyal contributor to the Marshfield school system. We the class of 1981 are thanking Mr. Connors by dedicating our yearbook to his galiant services. We leave wishing him many more years of warming the hearts of future M.H.S. students. COACH ANDERSON! 50 Jim “Coach ” Anderson has touched, and often times greatly influenced, the lives of many people. As a coach, teacher, administrator, counselor, employer and friend he has always been unselfish with his time and energy for those he served. He has provided us with his wisdom, encouragement, and fairness over the course of the past three decades. Our association with “Coach ’ Anderson has been a valuable, enriching experience. We pay tribute to a man who has contributed so much to us as individuals and to Marshfield as a community. Thank you. Coach. POWDER PUFF FOOTBALL lOm fT On October 19 approximately 70 senior and junior girls got together to play in the annual Powder Puff Football Game. The seniors won the game 20 to 6. Although the juniors tried their best they just couldn ' t handle the seniors. Touchdowns for the seniors were made by Flo lonta, Debby Webber and Sbaron Curry. Tbe junior touchdown was scored by Marcie Winokur. The senior girls all showed up dressed in blue sweatpants and red and white baseball shirts to match. The fronts of the shirts said “Seniors”, and the sayings on the backs of the shirts ranged from nicknames to unmentionable slogans. The junior girls outfits consisted of blue jeans and “Clas of 82” t-shirts. Not only did the girts receive support from the large crowd but also from some overly endowed cheerleaders. The cheerleaders for the game were: Danny Welch, Peter Smith, Glen Cotter, Greg Fender, John Faherty, John Creed, Chris “Sticks” Kane, Brian Noyes, and Steve Shevenell. The game went off very well, as in the past, and will continue to be a fine tradition at Marshfield High School. PURE AS A DRIVEN SNOW Pure as the Driven Show can be best described as a spoof on the melo- drama of the nineteenth century. Written by Paul Loomis, the play has all the emotional expression and poet- ic flair of a melodrama, but it is en- hanced by a touch of comedy. The M.H.S. Drama Club handled their production of “Pure” with all the enthusiasm and skill of a well es- tablished theater company. The cast gave life to such characters as the hero, heroine, and villian with poise and confidence while crews worked their magic with sets, lights, costumes, sound, and make-up. And so, with dedication and hard work, the M.H.S. Drama Club contin- ues to prove that theater is a living act. 71 SENIORS SOPHOMORES Heidi Coppenrath-Historian, Kathy Corbo-Treasurer, Chris Navarro-Vice President Lynne Habel-President, Carolyn Batts-Chaplain.
