DEDICATION 5 ' W. ' ; Humor, kindness, warmth, and sincerity are in- gredients of true friendship- -and these are the quali- ties of two men who have taught us and associated with us, not only as teachers, but as friends. Mr. Harold Scott, our freshman adviser, our wise man of numbers, worked with us in our freshman activities and helped us to adjust to the exciting, confusing new ways Mr. Harold Scott of high school. He is a true friend, always at hand ! Mr. Richard Deasy, our friend and philoso- pher, a wise man of letters, exemplifies the high ideals of industry with his intense appli- cation to every problem. These two men have had an important in- fluence on our school lives, and so, in thanks and gratitude, we dedicate to them our 1961 TIDE. Mr. Richard Deasy

THE EDITORS SPEAK vx;cs Elizabeth ,avia Our 1961 TIDE is the record of our Senior year, the important year in which we have learned to be citizens of the world, members of the human community. World progress and modernization insist that we progress and mod- ernize. The staff has streamlined many of the book ' s pages. Discarding old - fashioned methods , adopting new techniques, we have attempted to include all aspects of our school life: curricular and co-curricular activities. We hope that the school and town com- munities will like the revised format. Of all those who have helped us we would like to thank especially Mr. Idyla Etelman, Literary Adviser, and Miss Elizabeth Ellard, Business Adviser. Mr. Ellis, C. Rand, Mr. John M. Nagle, Jr., Mrs. Elizabeth S. Hatch, Mr. John T. Heald, Mr. William C. MacDonald. Learning to be citizens of any community, whether it be the community of the world or members of the human community, is part of the growing-up process. Each youngperson learns more readily through examples set by responsible dedicated people of the established community in which he lives. Our school board mem- bers are such individuals. They give of their time. energy, and initiative to serve the youth of our town. Through this service, they set the direction and pace for future town leaders. To them are we, the mem- bers of the Senior Class, duly grateful for all they have done to make our school years in Marshfield happy, constructive, and fruitful. Thank YOU and YOU and YOU!
