SCHOOL TRADITIONS The Marshfield High School has upheld the tradition of rewarding its students reward ing ltS students for outstanding work ln scholastic BCtlVltlCS Students receiving these honors are entitled to an WMU award Certiflcates of award are yresented by the school thus enabling the students to buy letter along w1th an emblem denoting the aCt1V1ty The student doing excellent school work, all year is entitled to a four 1DCh block letter for scholarship A six 1nch block 18 g1VCH for participation in a major srort, such as basketball, volleyball, or softball Track and field nembers are awarded with a script letter, and an old English letter 1S presented for music If a student receives ar award for more than one activity he nay have tne emblems, depicting these activities worked into the HMM Croups taking first place ln some magor activity are awarded with as HHN An 1nd1v1dual 1n a w1nn1ng group receives an emblem earinp his name in blue and white One of the first events of the vear 1S the Barn harming held by the F F A boys All teachers are 1nv1ted to this function The girls TCCC1X novel lfVlt8tlOHS from the boys These lnvitations are slipped into a split ear o corn and presented to the girl Carrying out the theme of the barn warming, bales of hay serve for tables and chairs Many games are played, and at the nd of the party regresrments are served The afternoon before the Thanksg1v1ng hol1days the Junior Class presents an assembly In keeping with the thought of tNlS season, tre program 1S usually TC11glOUS in nature con SlStlDg of Th8nkSglVlng hymns, poems and pr yers Each class takes part in the School Carnlval The Seniors rreside over the main 3ttT8CtlOH, the Country Store Th1S Country Store 1n made possible through the contribu tuans from our local merchants Here you can find many good barg1ns at the low price a dime Later in the evening a stage show is rresentec Turing thlS slow prizes are glvfn to persons holulng llCky numbers Then comes the grand finale, tre crowning of the Carni val Queen, and another carnival comes to an end was presented The Senior ChOlT sang from tne background This program 1S alw ys of a Tel1g1OUS nature 'W ff ,sax s s W x ,fizz 'QL S55 One of the most important of the traditional events is the banquet given by the Tuniors if honor of the Senior Class The gym, where tris banquet lS held, 15 beautifully decorated with colorful streamers Five long tables, covered with write cloths, are placed ln the center of the gym Bouquets of flowers serve as center pieces The speak ers table sits facing the others Also to this affair all teachers are invited After the full course meal is served, a program 15 given and presided over by the Toast taster Sneak day fourd th senior class 1U St Lou1s last year Forrest Park was one of the ylaces v1s1ted Transportation lS usually furnished by the school buses Sneak day this year will find the sen1ors at 99999 The end of school 15 brought to a trlumphant close with the Nay Fete All grades, from the first to the twelfth, take part 1n th1S event Each has a part1cular act to perform, deplctlng many colorful scenes, dances and the llke The entrance of the May Queen, Prince Charming and attendants, 1S followed by tre coronation The Cueen and Prince Charnang then re1gn over the remainder of the Program The climax of this grand event 15 the winding of the Lay Poles Steamers of brlllant hues are dotted over the ent1re school ground, weaving in and out bringing a successful achool year to a splendid end This pUb11C3tlOH went to press before the track season was completed So it was lmpossible to glV6 a report of th1s years track act1v1t1es Our boys with others who have graduated or moved away brought Marshfield High School the Alt1tude League Track Champ 1OnShlP in l9L6, which makes tte second consective year .
