QUJIV tl0l'lJ 'lhe Ihrshfield program of award is different frcln most schools If a student has done outstanding work in any type of activity, any subject, cr sport he is ent1tled to an M award The school presents the certificates which entitle the students to buy a letter M with the emblem representing his activity worked in Only students receiving one of these certificates can wear a sweater with an M decorating it The four inch full block letter is br scholarship The student who gets an M certiflcate for scholarship has done excellent work all year The six inch full block is for a certificate in a mjor sport as volleyball, basketball, or softball A stripe letter is won for various track and field events The old English let ter is for music and lf a person has earned an award in more tlnn one thing he my buy a letter with the different emblems worked into the H The school presents the letters only when a group has won nrst in a nmjor activity Each individual in the youp receives an emblem with his mme on :lt in Blue and White A student can receive a certificate in any subject or port in which he has done outstanding work. Z 9 K ,-' 1 7 KJ 4 ,X Marshfield High School has several traditional school activities which take place in about the same way every year They are described in the follow1ng paragraphs Near to the first of the year there is s hrs larming held by the FFA boys At this activity the boys invite girls and all the teachers are also invited Th invitations are made by cutting an ear of corn in half and slipping the imitation into it At the party tae tables and chairs are made of bales of hay lhny games are played after which 'coke and donuts are served The Thanksglvmg Assembly , presented on the day before the vacation is given by the Junior Class This assembly usually is religous in nature at which Thanksgiving hymns, poems, and prayers are given Every class takes part in the Carnival, everyone has something tocb The seniors are responsible for the Country Store, which is the min attraction of the stands and dde shows There you can sometimes get up to a dollars' value for a dime At the set time late in the evenlng a stage show is presented during which prizes are given to the ones holding the lucky numbers As a clinnx to the act1v1t1es the Carnival Oueen is crowned The Christms Assembly given by the seniors was especially good this year The class gavea dramatization of Dickes' Christmas Cargl after which songs were sung by the entire student body The Junior-Senior Banquet, given by the juniors in honor of the seniors, is about the most important event in the school year All the teachers are invited There are streamers hung all around the gym Four or five long tables with white table cloths on them and flowers for the center are in the middle of the gym with the speakers table facing than A full course meal is served during the after which a program is given presided over by the toast mater At the last of school, comes the hy Pete in which the high school shadent body end grade school participates heh class and each pads has an act At the height of the program the May Queen is crowned by her Prince Charming The last festivity of the evening is the winding of the hy Poles heh class and grade participates nking e vary colorful scene O I 0 e E h li' v f 'Reef' Z 'asv ' 'Q ' M ,Q 4 .kwi- I Jig? ull:- ' 1 I e e . . . . sl
