STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council has had a very successful year under the leadership of President Gene Tanlcersley. It was composed of all student body officers, the class presidents and representatives, and Mr. Shellenbarger. As in the past years, they sponsored noon movies and the interesting as well as educational national assemblies. In addition to this, the Student Council lowered the rate of the student body cards and had MHS handbooks published. The MHS handbooks were especially welcomed by new students since they con- tained the Marshfield High School Constitution, customs, floor plan of the high school, the school song and yells, and general rules followed in our school. , Page Twelve mme L..- Left to right, lst row: Miss Strachan, Veep J. As freshmen back in 1951-52, we staged a talent show and were hard workers at selling concessions. We can always point with pride that we were the first class to enter high school without being initiated. i As sophomores we had a class party, and sponsored a student body dance. The big achievement of the junior year was the junior Prom. The decorations carried out the theme of Mardi Gras. Other activities were the Freshman Mixer and the junior- Senior dessert. Our Senior year was an exceptionally successful one. An enjoyable talent show was one of the first major activities. After a great deal of careful preparation, our class staged a magnificent Senior Ball. Toward the close of the year came the Senior Breakfast and Picnic. Baccalaureate was held, and then came the most important event of the year for the seniors, which was graduation. We wish to express our sincere thanks to our advisors, Miss Strachan, Nlrs. Gouda, Mr. Bunyard and Mr. Johnson. Page Fifteen Aulman, Walter Austin, Bernice Trans. from Glide Girls' League Band Intramurals Math Club BaClQmaI1, Baer, Pete Football Football Golf Basketball Mgr. This has been our lzest year in MHS and we hope than next year will be just as eventful and as much fun. We worked hard on our Junior Prom and it was quite successful. The theme of our prom was 'QUnder the Sea, which we carried out by murals of undersea animals. driftwood and fish net decorations, and mobile fish. Our popcorn machine was a tremendous success. We now have no regrets that we purchased the White Elephant. We sponsored many things within the school like the Frosh Mixer, the March of Dimes contest, the Junior-Senior Dessert and the Junior Class Play Day. The year began slowly for the Sopho- mores with a few coke and ice cream concessions at football and basketball games, but we got into the swing of things by a colossal March of Dimes drive for which we had a doughnut sale. We fined Sophomores who violated any of the comical rules compiled by some of the students. We were second only to the Seniors in the amount of money collected. Our biggest event of the year was a gay carnival held in the Girls' Gym. There were concessions, games, fortune telling, and a queen was chosen at the carnival. We, the class of '58, hope the sophomore year will have as much in store for us as this year had. We'll never forget the things we did. We were welcomed to Marshfield High School with a dance given in our honor by the Juniors. Led by President Larry Biclc, our class has accomplished many things this year. The Frosh joined the annual Beat North Bend rally by creating, what our class thought was one of the best floats in the parade. We also produced an entertaining talent show. We sold colces at the football games and ice cream at basketball games. Page Fifty-three 5 x 1 Knapp, S. Lantto, Marr, L. Miller, C. Myhrvolcl, G. Olson, C. Rice S Knutson, T. Lindley, McCombs, B.
