Outstanding and Informal This shut, taken from the halcony of the auditorium, presents an informal view of an assembly audience. Mr. Miller, principal of the high school, is conducting the as- sembly before turning the program over to the orchestra. Interested, hored, indifferent -students greet the musical program glad to skip a class or shorten one. Several times during the year paid assemblies are held and pupils enjoy the best of nmsic and speakers, And every time we hear ot' one- act plays, we know that the best ones will he presented for an assemhly. lfriendly-that's Lucille Hilderhrand '35, who with her braces will soon be walking again after nine years in her wheel chair. These modern llomosthenes, Daven- port, Cole, Kneeland, Lents, and Green, are niembers of the Hi-Y gospel team. During the winter this quintet visited small towns of the county presenting the three discussions they prepared, Helen Harris reveals that smile which won her the popularity contest at the junior College carnival. Mental giants-menu hers of the Societas l'raemi Yirtutis, hons orary scholastic society, who are not only beautiful but brilliant as well, They are: Krantman, Hutler, Oppenheimer, Rohde, Hanpert, Apgar, who with Miller-the lone hoyfreveal a success secret, To win, hold on. And the mighty Caesar tell -The Pleiades Club, sponsored hy Miss Simmons, Latin teacher, presents Shake- speare's Julius Caesar. The sheeted ones are Siegrist, Miller, Bowman, Farher, Shcely, Graham, NVilson, Fleshman, Fen- wick, and the corpsct U, june l,aT'lant. The white togas represent the trend of clothes in the time ofthe Caesars. The only things really lacking are the Roman noses.
The Wonders That Are in Science Miss Neville oversees her sophomore art class as they have a lesson in ligure sketch- ing, and who should the model be but Allen Fisher! Hold still, Allen! Our actor, scientist, musician, bon sayant member of the faculty is Edward D. Knock, high school physics teacher and junior college chemistry instructor. So engrossed in their physics problems are these seniors, that they don't seem to be conscious of the fact that their picture is being taken, or are they just Hpretendin' ? These girls will be able to mend their husbands' socks perhaps! They are Miss VVhinery's advanced sewing class. lt is lab day in chemistry with all the rubber aprons, test tubes, and apparatus so in evi- dence. just so they don't asphyxiate them- selves playing with those gas jets! L. L. Kingsbury explaining to his chemistry class the disastrous results of sulphuric acid spilled on hands or clothes. But, Mr. Kingsbury, it is said that fools learn from experience only. lih, what, you burned your fingers anyway? They aren't digging for worms to go fish- ing, but just looking at some plants Miss Habeger, biology teacher, is pointing out. VVhich member of the class, do you sup- pose, will remember those seventy-five-cent words she is using? Hours before and after you pass through the cafeteria these cafeteria workers put in their time preparing food for hungry students. The lady-in- white, Miss XYhinery, sees that everything is in apple pie order. Not many girls can Fix irons, lamps, and other electric appliances, but the girls in Mr, Terry's electricity class will have no trouble at all, for thev are well versed iu such a bewildering subject.
