WITH FON D MEMORIES Mrs. Schlichting was a Spanish teacher at Marshall for three and one half years. She also was the Redcoat advisor for two and one half years. She spent many years living in Mexico before coming to Janesville. After first semester this year, she and her family moved back to Mexico. In addition to teaching seventh grade Science, Mr. Clark was involved in various boys' football activities. Last year during first semester, Mr. Clark became ill. The Student Council sponsored a fund-raising project to help finance his medical expenses. We hope he will soon return to his position at Marshall. This, The Year of the Child. is best symbolized by the people who have almost as much influence on us as our parents - the teachers. Dedicated to the job of helping shape students into adults, as well as helping them to lay a solid foundation on which to build their lives, makes the teaching career an important one. This year, we honor four people who have served on the staff at Marshall in the true spirit of teaching. For thirty-one years, Mr. Main has been a band instructor and director at Mar- shall. Mr. Main, who is retiring after his career here, says he has enjoyed every school band he has had the pleasure of working with. He hopes the excellence the groups have shown in the past will continue in the years to come. Mrs. Bell has spent twelve years of her teaching career at Marshall. She taught eighth and ninth grade Social Studies. and retired this year, at the end of first semester. She commented that the staff and students she has worked with were extremely nice, and that she has immensely enjoyed work- ing as a teacher at Marshall. 75 :de . .
