FACULTY SECTION MISS GLORIA LEWIS Kate Maremont Award Teacher DEDICATED TEACHERS Every year two teachers are selected from through- out the city of Chicago to be honored as dedicated teachers. The Marshall faculty was honored last year by the selection of Miss Gloria Lewis, a member of our music department, to receive the Kate Maremont Dedi- cated Teacher Citation and Travel Grant. Miss Lewis' contribution to the growth and develop- ment of Marshall students in choral music and civic responsibilities through sponsorship of the Marshall Civic Association has been strikingly remarkable. Her mixed chorus has achieved superior ratings year after year, which attests to her outstanding ability to organize and develop untrained voices into a coordinated unity of excellence. Her devotion to the school and community is manifested in her unselfish conducement of time and effort to its cultural activities. Miss Lewis, through her sponsorship of the Marshall student government, dedicated herself to the task of training our young people in the basic principles of democratic government. In the midst of student protest and demands, she steadfastly guided student energies in the direction of accepted standards of negotiation. Stu- dents who are fortunate enough to come under her supervision and inspiration are much wiser and better prepared to meet the challenges of todays problems.
