Those days are called summer. Students managed to fill each day with a wide variety of ac- tivities. Sailing, fishing, swimming, biking, visiting friends, and yes, even working took the place of the classroom for three months. One of the highlights of summer happens as school is beginning. The fall festival provides an opportuni- ty for students to play games, listen to a band concert, watch a melodrama, sample all types of food, and wind up the summer on a positive note. Whatever activity each student found to be of interest, some of the most memorable experiences can be attributed to the fun of summer. Graffiti ... You see it everywhere. On walls, on desks, on doors, on notebooks. Sure, the people who do this graffiti change and so does the subject of the graffiti. One thing never changes. The urge to decorate your notebook or whatever with a little written message for your friends and posterity. Ask you parents who was Kilroy. He was the biggest subject ever for graf- fiti. One thing is for certain. As long as there are schools, there will be students who leave a part of themselves behind in the form of GRAFFITI. Perhaps the best way is for those students in- volved in the activities of the Campus Life program to express their feelings. I think Campus Life is a really good program for all kids to talk about almost any subject. CL is a great way to meet lots of new peopleg especially when we go to camps or on trips. We also have some serious talk about liv- ing a Christian life. - Tammy Wilson CL is really a fun club where everyone is friendly and you meet lots of new people. When you have a pro- blem you can always find someone willing to help. - Sandy Macke CL is fun. You can act silly if you want and no one minds. Everyone is very friendly. - Malinda Spires I would say that Campus Life is one of the best programs I have ever been involved in. They care! They are willing to help anytime. Iguarantee that if you go to just one meeting you'll be back for the next. Great fun! - Becky Bishop 111 Campus Life director, Mike Canny with some of his admirers, Becky Bishop, Crystal Murphy, and Amy Mmm. nz: Qecky. obviously enjoys what she is listening to. Slue-Foot Sue, her grandmother and the rest of the town battle it out against Dirty Dan and his gang. Sue finds she can't handle them on her own so she calls in Pecos Bill and his clever coyote. They soon run off the sheriff who is part of Dirty Dan's gang. The three remaining gang members were threatened by either going to prison or to school. They chose school. Since Pecos, Sue, and Coyote are no longer needed, Sue goes for a ride on a catfish and Pecos and his coyote go for a wild ride on a cyclone. Whether it is writing on a wall, a notebook, or carved in a tree, graffiti is a message that is bound to be read by someone else. The 1983 Marshallo- nian contains all kinds of graffiti. As is the case with most graffiti, it is hard to remove once in place. This is true with this yearbook. These pictures and words serve as a permanent message to describe the people, places, and events of the 1982-83 school year at Marshall High School, Marshall, Illinois. l X - of I fu 7' X N xi M., w ' X V s xt' X XT' N.
