A- State Farmer Vice-President, Senior Class g GERALDINE FOSTER Mixed Chorus Noctua Staff Mar-Saline Staff Office Assistant Girls' Glee Club Secretary, Debate Squad Secretary-Treasurer, Senior Class enior Glass gastory The members of the Senior Class of 1-953 began their Senior high years in the fall of 1949 as Freshmen with Berkeley Hall as Presidentg Donald Mitts, Vice-Presidentg and Sue Merrell as Secretary. As Sophomores, they chose Betsy Kirk, Kenneth Schuster and Sara Jane Coad as class officers. Because of his well-known citizenship, Donald Mitts was elected as the delegate to the Sophomore Pilgrimage. Donald Mitts, Sara Jane Coad, and Shirley Jo Nightwine were selected as leaders for the Junior year. The class entertained the Seniors with a banquet on May 18, 1952. Gradu- ation Days was used as the central theme. The following Friday evening, the Seniors were again the Juniors' guests for the annual Junior-Senior Prom. The theme of Garden in the Rain was carried out for this affair. Stage-struck was the title ofthe Junior play. Judy Newman, Charles Marsh and Geraldine Foster were elected to lead the class during the final year. Mahala Copeland was selected to represent the class in the State D. A. R. Citizenship Contest. Among the many Senior activities was the presentation of the Senior play, You Can't Take lt With You. The class of 99 students were graduated May 28, 1953 with Shirley Mayse as valedictorian, Shirley Jo Nightwine as salutatorian and Mahala Copeland and Judy Newman tying for third highest honors. Ninety-one of the ninety- nine graduating began their Senior high days together in 1949.
