Our course ollcrings this year include two new one se- mester courses. Child Develop- ment is offered for the junior or senior girl who wishes more ad- vanced work in child study. Mr. James Crable . FINE ARTS The Art Department this year has offered its students a strong basic education it its field. The many art forms and media including watercolors, tempra, pen and ink drawing, wood lamination, cut paper, ehalks and charcoal, basic letter forms, and paper maehe were studied. Great eras and representative figures in art history were also studied. The Department sponsors a Fine Arts Festival during the spring term so that these fields may be seen in Combination. Mr. Frederick Hawke Department Head MATHEMATICS Striving to retain and expand upon the modern topics covered in Math VIII. the Algebra I students this year used an exciting new text, A'IOKf1'7'7I Algebra, by Dolciani. The new Algebra I course Covered the traditional topics using the modern niatlieinatieal lan- guage. The course presented the old and the new content of Algebra I in the best prevailing educational thought. Students gained a better understanding of the basic concepts and at the same tiiue retained the required iuanipulative proficiency obtained under the traditional syllabus.
