John Marshall — a junior-senior high school near the University of Minnesota and Dinky-Town — is home to all 1306 of us. We experience many September-to-Junes in the familiar halls, classrooms, and laboratories which the seniors leave to the many Cardinals who will keep up its spirit and its pride in accomplishment. The administration department of any school is responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness by which the educational machine functions. At Minneapolis Marshall we are fortunate to have Mr. Walter Chapman and Mr. Lucas Softer as our leaders. Mr. Wolt»c I. Chopmon, Principal Administration Guides Program Mr. lucot H. Softer, Anijfont Principal Establishing a close relationship between John Marshall High School and Southeast Minneapolis is the chief aim of our administrators. These men believe that our school should step ahead with a sensible balance. At one extreme we may remain so tightly glued to the traditions of the past that our minds are closed to the advancements of today. The opposite attitude is one of becoming so modern that great contributions of the past are belittled or forgotten. Parents of today's students find in Marshall enough of the old to make them feel it is still their school. At the same time they observe enough up-to-date curricular and building improvements to convince them that the opportunities enjoyed by 1961 students are in step with the nuclear and space times.
