DEAN SHAWBOLD, INSTRUCTOR OF THE TEAM, AGREED THAT THIS HAS BEEN THE HIGHEST ANY MARSHALL GYMNASTIC TEAM HAS EVER PLACED IN THE CITY AND STATE MEETS. TRACK THIS YEAR'S TRACK TEAM WITH A NUCLEUS OF JUNIORS AND UNDER THE COACHING OF HOWIE STRAITON DID QUITE WELL. TWO OF THE BOYS ARE RETURNING LETTER-MEN FROM LAST YEAR'S TRACK TEAM. AND WILL BE BACK FOR REPEAT PERFORMANCES NEXT YEAR. Left to right. Row 1: K. Murphy, E. Kossart, R. Williams, J. Swentek, D. Anderson, J. Hunt, J. Genadek, R. Thornley, T. Clarke. Row 2: Coach H. Nielsen, J. Johnson, R. Kurosh, Coach Showbone. The tennis team had a fair season this year with only two veteran players back. Prospects for next year look good as many newcomers gained experience this spring. GOLF Joe Bolstead and Joe Langenberger are the two letter men returning to the golf team this year. Apparently quite a few ninth and tenth grade boys are eager to fill the positions on the four-man team. If two more good men are found for the positions, the golf team should go far this year. 60 J. Langenberger, C. Langenberger. R. Skcoy, G. Fish, J. Bolstad. R. Johnson, W. Hoffman, Coach E. Lien. BASEBALL t The nineteen fifty-one Marshall High baseball team was slated for a highly successful season. All but four of last year's team are planning to ploy this year. The team started off the season by winning all its practice games and one of its conference games. At the time the Cardinal went to press the team was well on its way for a very successful season. 61 Left to right. Row 1: J. Shorn, J. Welch, J. Longlois, J. Sticka, J. Leone, B. Jungquist, B.
