CARDINAL OF 1929 THE FIRST SUSPENSION BRIDGE HE first bridge to span the Mississippi River from its source to its mouth was the suspension bridge built at Minneapolis and St. Anthony in 1855. This bridge, connecting the two little towns, was formally opened On Jauary 23. A second sus- pension bridge with stone pillars replaced this bridge. These two bridges spanned the river at the place where the steel arch bridge now stands near the Great Northern station. January Class Olficers ......
