Duff, Superintendent of the Marshall School, first organized the gra.ded high school in l908- l909. This then was the official birthday of MARSHALL HIGH SCHOOL, Ole Main , the high school building, was also completed inthe fall of 1908, and this was the only build- ing on the campus until l9Z9 when a Smith-Hughes build- ing was erected, From this, Marshall High School has grown to its present size with six buildings. Along with the material advancements of the school grew the tradi- tions, loyalties, and rivalries that have become a part of life at M.H.S. The pictures drawn from the past fifty years of Marshall High School are intended to instruct us, the present students, in our heritage and recall to others the perhaps forgotten past. Because of this, we firstpresent the past of M.H,S. Dedlcahon S... is. JIM G. Looking back on the past, I'm sure many tall tales can and are told of the doings around Old Marshall High. This school has sent forth many graduates into practically every walk of life and into many sections of our land in the last fifty years. I believe the major influence exerted by the school has been a steadying influence on their later lives. Has the Old School kept pace with the ever changing present times ? Only her products, the graduates, and their success in life after leaving here can give that answer. But to serve the community best the Marshall School must continue to progress in every phase of its influence This influence must be of the contagious type which every student in its halls becomes imbued with to keep the Old School rolling to fame Will you as a student leave an A or an F on your Alma Mater's report card? Your Superintendent C E MEDLEY 'QP' r paw Much has been said about the shape of things to come We have seen our entrance 1nto the space age an age of rockets missiles and space satellites I trust that the students of Marshall High School have been made to realize the importance of a good education especially in the fields of science and math This age 18 a challenge to those who dare to accept it In the years to come I hope that the time you spent at Marshall School will help each of you to accept Your Principal H G BATTERSHELL Sponsored by MARSHALL MOTOR COURT CAFE 2nd J'ERRY'S LION STATION I I VK .
