The most important step along this path is the one that leads to school. It is here that we grow and develop through the leadership of the faculty and student governmentp through the education we receive through these wallsp through competition in athletic eventsp through participation in various organizationsp and through association with our fellow students. Everyone respects this couple and looks to them for advice and help. They are never too busy to stop and talk with a student or to help the school in any way they can. As students come and go from year to year they carry with them a sense of pride and dedication. These develop because of the successful guidance of those interested in the betterment of the students. lt is the wish of the leaders who guide us that each student who attends Marsh Valley High School will be a better person when he leaves than he was when he came. Only according to our ignorance are we helpless. Thought creates character. Character can dominate conditions under which we live. The strength of a nation or a school system is in its peoplef By gaining knowledge, spreading sound thinking, clean speech, useful effort, and wholesome living we hope to keep our nation free and great. We must also keep in mind that the fuel behind all verbal reasoning is informationg and reasoning is the short-cut to success. It is a big step toward success when a person is able to notice that there are some things he does not know, and takes action to fill the gap. To know, to get into the truth of things, is one of lifes mystic delights. jw l : ',, Our principal, Mr. Wayne Nielsen, is indeed a man of action. His activities range from presiding over faculty meetings to taking pictures for yearbook and journalism. He is always willing to help classes, clubs, or individuals in any way that he can to encourage them to achieve their goals. A great deal of thanks is extended to Mr. Nielsen for his cooperation and dedication to the students of Marsh Valley. FACULTY Lurae Brinkerhoff Band. Louise Christensen English. Hours of classes, tedious studies, intense learning, the quiet of studentshard at work, the tapping of a nervous pencil, and the silence of thought during a final test represent the hard concentration and relaxed study which combine to make the classroom hours at Marsh Valley. New classes and old help students gain the knowledge and understanding needed to take their places in a fast-moving world. Friendships developed in and out of the classroom help students form new ideals and ways of living. All of this wisdom and friendship is gained by the students of Marsh Valley who are progressing along the pathway to success through . . Kind of a Drag, the Pep Club sponsored Co-Ed Dance, attracted many Eagles to dance to the music of the Inmates. The Pep Club sat amid the spectators during games and helped boost all of the Eagle 's school spirit. Pep Club members, Laurel Harris and Brenda Richards, held the Victory Hoop for the football team to run through after half-time. Leading the cheers for the Pep Club were Marsh Valley 's spirited cheerleaders. The Pep Club supported all the school sports and tried to keep school spirit at the top. They accompanied the teams to some of the away-from-home games and hung posters in the halls to remind the students of upcoming sports activities. They planned the Co-Ed Dance and selected Mr. Marsh Valley and his attendants to reign over the dance. To raise money, the first year members sold Christmas Cards. As T blazers were turned in and new officers elected, the members looked forward to another exciting year in Marsh Valley's Pep Club. 1 JOURNALISM Standing, Ron Treasureg FRONT ROW: Blaine Nisson, Steve Howell, Renee Bennett, Judy Holmes, Cathryn Archibald. 2nd ROW: LaDeana Stephenson, Nancy Hadley, Catherine Larsen, DeeAnn Gibbs, Ronda Barnes, Diana Brown. 3rd ROW: Melba Henson, Mrs. Helen Swim, Advisor.
