FOOTBALL ACTION Marsh Valley and their opponent. The camera catches the action of a hard-fought football game between Managers Bruce Bronson and Lee Bloxham fold the uniforms and put things away. The players owe a great deal of thanks to Bruce and Lee who travel with the team and help them whenever they can. Their responsibil ities range from waiting on the players hand and foot to keeping track of equipment. The locker room is a busy place as the players get dressed after a hard game . Keith Penrose looks for someone to receive the pass he is about to make. The Junior Varsity and Freshman Football teams were coached by Dave Treasure and Mark Hasen. The Freshman team was quite inexperienced and, although they made a good account of themselves, they won only one of their four games. The Junior Varsity scored four victories against four defeats. There are several fine prospects for future Eagles' Varsity team. V Q' if 2 4' If 15, Coach Dave Treasure stands with an amazed look that seems to ask, Did I teach them that? 67

VARSITY BASKETBALL FRONT ROW: Mgr. Lee Bloxham, Mike Jacobson, David Johnson, Gary Yearsley, and Mgr. Richard Brower. SECOND ROW: Coach Mark Hasen, Scott Hadley, Joe Egley, Ivan Bullock, Ray Girard, Ronald Wakley, Ken Degn, and Tim Rowe. Marsh Valley's basketball coaches for 65-66 were Ass't Coach Dave Treasure and Coach Mark Hasen. We feel Marsh Valley came up with a fairly successful bas- ketball season. The season started with a lack of experience and height. Ron Wakley was the only boy with any experience back from last year. The pre-league season ended with 4 wins and 4 losses. As the league season started, we realized that the competition would get much tougher. We ended the regular season with a nine win, eleven loss record. During the tournament the Marsh Valley team displayed a great amount of endurance and basketball savvy. After losing the first game to American Falls, the team went on to defeat Malad, Montpelier, Snake River and the same American Falls team in a very decisive manner. Preston High School defeat- ed Marsh Valley for the championship of the fifth district, but M. V. still received a state berth as the runner-up team. There was a great amount of excitement and enthusiasm about the team going to the State tournament. The team played a great game against Gooding High School and lost in the last 39 seconds, 65 to 64. The same Gooding team went on to win the State Championship in a more decisive manner. The overall record was 13 wins and 15 losses with 7 losses being decided by five or less points. Coach Hasen felt that the players displayed a great amount of courage, desire, and pure guts. The long hours of practice and work the boys had gone through had shown its worth at the end of the season.
