lady Wlth a man whom I thought I recogmzed It was Kerm1t Webb and when the lady turned around It was Joan Bennett So l walked over they were surpr1sed to fmd I was gomg to Par1s too Joan IS the owner of a Style Shop at Wh1tesv1lle W Va and was gomg to Par1s for the latest styles and Kerm1t was on an 1mportant m1ss1on He was booked to race the fourth of July Kerm1t sure has changed s1nce '55 Remember how qu1et he was After Chatterlng awh1le I ex cused myself and went to dress for d1nner After d1nner there was an announcement that there was to be a floor show A woman's wrestl1ng match Sol stayed It was Norma Honaker and Jeanette Stepp Those g1rls were very good and after the match I went to the1r dress1ng room and we talked for a wh1le I asked them about Lo1s Darl1ngton and they sa1d she and Johnn1e Pettry were marr1ed Johnn1e IS w1th the F B I and Lo1s 15 workmg at Elk1n's Lunch Iasked about the rest ofthe class and found that Orpha Bryant was work1ng for R1chard D Brown Insur ance Co and h1S secretary and Inez IS teach1ng Semor Enghsh at W V U She always knew her Engllsh On the second day out I was stand1ng on deck when we ran 1nto a Navy sh1p and a sa1lor looked upfrom h1smopp1ngand yelled H1 Mary' It was Coba Dav1s He always sa1d he would be a Navy man even 1f he had to scrub decks Iwas t1red so I went to my cab1n to he dovm for a wh1le I turned on the rad1o and the an nouncer sa1d 'We w1ll now have the results of the M F H S Soph1s game M F 80 Soph1a Z I can understand that score because Bucky Barker IS now coach at M F The announcers vo1ce sounded fam1l1ar, and after l1sten1ng for awh1le I found It was Percy Jarrell Iwonder where he ever got the xdea of be1ng a rad1o announcer Maybe It was from our Sen1or Engl1sh class Then suddenly Percy sprogram was 1nterrupted by a news flash LOUIS 14th al1as Gary Adlerman has escaped from the Ch1ll1cothe pr1son for the th1rd t1me 1n the last month He IS armed and consldered dangerous I remember Gary say1ng he was go1ng to Ch1l11cothe Ohlo but he d1dn t say anyth1ng about a pr1son That even1ng at supper I learned that the capta1n of the boat was Eugene Pettry He came over and ate at my table He 15 marr1ed to Patsy now and she IS a bookkeeper for Coppers Self the ma1n one at St1ckney W Va and to my surpr1se he told me that Carl Boggess was an Ad m1ral IH the Navy That n1ghtldreamed that I was back at M F H S and the band was g1v1ng a spr1ng con cert As the curta1n openedlsawthe d1rector ra1se h1s baton and the band began to play a snappy warm up march ' Wash1ngton Post As the dxrector turned around for a bow I saw It was Bob by D1ckens He has done a lot for the band It's much larger now, and I hear they have two new bar1tones On wak1ng up I began to pack because we were to dock 1n one hour and f1fteen m1nutes As I stepped off the boat I heard someone call my name It was Cookle Brooks and Don ald Hopkms They both are studylng there Donald IS study1ng med1c1ne and Cook1.e IS a sc1ent 1st She 15 look1ng for the 99th element She always enjoyed chem1stry We three had d1nner together 1n a l1ttle French Rest and talked over our sen1or year 1n h1gh school Cook1e asked me what Eula was do1ng I told her she was work1ng for a large 1n surance company as atyp1st 1nClevelancl andl learned from Donald that Joe Hooten 1S nowa pro fess1onal referee One day I was walk1ng down the street 1n Par1s and I saw a fam1l1ar face It was Doranna talk1ng to an old woman Doranna seems to be dolng well m her soc1al work After spendmg two months 1n Par1s and V1S1t1ng all the 1nterest1ng places, I prepared to return to the U S A I landed 1n N Y May 7th at l 45 p m There my husband was wa1t1ng fOr me Together we caught a plane to Cleveland where we l1ve now As we left the a1rport, I saw Sonny Gray and we talked for awh1le I learned he was pastor of Packsv1lle Bapt t Church untxl It burned down He then came to Cleveland to f1nd a Job He sa1d Pete Hale Pres1dent ofthe R8 publxcan Steel Corp had wrxtten hlm a letter Saylng he could get a Job there One day Gene and I were down tovnm Gene sa1d he was go1ng to get a haxr cut and I sa1d I would go over to the hosp1tal to see Betty Lou Betty 1S a nurse at the Cleveland Cl1n1c She was glad to see me and when I asked her about Jenny she sa1d she and Jack had gotten marr1ed and that Jack ovmmed a barber shop on 25th St When I met Gene later at Edd1e's Sweet Shop h sa1d Jack was the one who had cut h1s ha1r and he had 1nv1ted us over to see the1r new son And now my vacat1on dur1ng Wh1Ch I met all of the class of '55 and v1s1ted Par1s 15 over Tomorrow I start back to work I am employed at the J 81 L Steel Corp as Prlvate Sec retary to the Presldent of the company Eugene Jarrell Mary Jane fl-Iunter Jarrell . . . . , I ' . . , . .. . . . . . , . . , ' D , - .
