6111.95 flzslary Well here we are on the top of the heap Yes we re really semors at last and 1t's txme to look over our past at Old Marsh Fork I-hgh School Green freshmen and were we ever green' Runmng through the halls wxth that lost and trmxd look 1n our eyes Nothmg much happened that year for we had to have txme to get adjusted and fam1l1ar1ze ourselves w1th the place Two members of our class d1d qual1fy for honorable posxtlon Mary Hunter Jarrell was chosen as a majorette and L1ta Salgado was an attendant to M1ss Marsh Fork Backas sophomores that's the year the bunch came from Mt V1ew You remember Peter Hale and Loretta Gunnoe and that gang Larry Cassell was our cho1ce for Pres1dent of our class GarryAldermanwas chosen V1ce Pres1dent L1ta Salgado as Secretary and Larry Shanks as the Treasurer of the class That s the year such outstandmg playe s as Jarrell Cassell Barker Hopklns Davls Ward Alderman and Halstead started thelr basketball and football careers Cassell made the All tournament basketball team Sue Blaylock was selected as flag carr1er for our school band Now tackllng the thxrd quarter of our hlgh school career we aga1n chose Larry Cassell to preslde over our class Garry Alderman served as Vlce Pres1dent Eula Smlth was Secretary and Jenny Kmder Treasurer And d1d we ever work that year' We sold everyth1ng from sta t1onery to Chr1stmas cards to ra1se money for the Jr Semor Prom whlch we had Apr1l 30th At th1s occass1on Merle Jarrell and Eula Sm1th were crowned Prmce and Pr1ncess We also sponsored a Sad1e Hawkms dance for th s purpose l must admlt we were a great bunch for dolng thmgs l1ke that Our Jr class play Mama S Baby Boy was really a success Remem ber Dora Shepherd as Mmme and how could you ever forget Sonny Ward who played as Mama's Baby Boy Whata character? We also had several members of our class be1ng 1n1t1ated 1nto the Nat1onal Honor Soc1ety thxs year They were Lo1s Darlmgton Patsy Hamphrey .Ioan Bennett Eula Smxth Sue Blaylock and Larry Cassell These also partxclpated m the Honor Socxety Play Our Gal Sal wh1ch was very good We put Percy Jarrell and Llta Salgado on the throne as Klng and Queen of Hearts at the Valent1ne Soclal L1ta was also selected as majorette thls under the leadershlp of Ernle Saunders from radxo statxon W C H S Takxng part 1n thls radlo program were two members of our class Sue Blaylock and Larry Cassell Sue also represented the Junlor Class 1n Cxnclnnatm at the World Affalrs lnstltute Conventlon Our class walked away wlthhonors th1s year We recexved our class r1ngs dur1ng second semester My was that ever a happy day Golng around w1th your fmger mn the a1r to make sure everyone not1ced lt We closed the year by golng ona PICHIC at L1ttle Beaver Park and Grandvlew State Park From all 1nd1cat1ons everyone enjoyed themselves Now 1n our last year Percy Jarrell was elected Pres1dent Garry Alderman V1ce Pres1 dent Betty Lovejoy Secretary and Lo1s Darlmgton Treasurer Flrst th1ngth1s year the annual staff was chosen by our class sponsors Mrs Carr and Mr Tabor We worked very hard ln order to make our annual a success Mary Jarrell was Selected to serve as head rnajorette and L1ta Salgado as co head and both dld a swell job Durmg the half t1me ceremomes of our home commg football game Roberta Brooks was crowned 'M1ss Bulldog After the game we sponsored the home commg dance We had a fxne football team th1s year wrth only two defeats all season Three of our players made the All County Team Bobby Halstead BuckyBarker and Larry Cassell Although th1s was Johnny Barker s f1rstyear to play he made a very good showxng for h1mse1f C1vxt1an Football Queen Candldate for the Concord College W Va Tech Football Game, was Sue Blaylock escorted by Donald Hopkms Sue Green another member of our class was crowned as Mxss Snow Flake at one of our school dances thxs year Agam our class play th1s year Oh Promlse Me was a success Most of our school clubs were under the leadersh1p of members of our class Then one day we were measured for our caps and gowns That's when we really began to feel llke senxorsj Well those arejust a few of the thrllls of be1ng a semor So we shall leave hoplng under classmen don't rn1ss us too much and that thexr years w1ll be as thrxlhng as those we spent at Marsh Fork Hzgh , . . .
