iUUiBHll Despite many handicaps, the 1957 Wildcats achieved a fairly good football record of four victories out of ten games. Hurt by the loss of seven players from last year's senior class, our team still won mast of the games in which the favorable factors were even. The Wildcats were also hurt by the iniury of Howell Smith early in the season, preventing his valuable contribution to the game. But the team did well and showed a fine spirit. Led by big Philip Ball, the Mars Hill eleven won its four victories by safe margins. Howell Smith, David ,I Q .1 K , ,-. Q- ., qi an -11.1 ' 1 ' Fl! A ' n - ,. Bradley, John Grindstaff and Wayne Roberts also con- tributed much to the victories. At the homecoming game, happy Mars Hill fans saw the Wildcats trounce Walnut, 27 to 6. This game also marked the season's climax of an improving school spirit of support. At the season's end, three of our va l uabl e senior players were chosen as members of the All-Conference team. They were Philip Ball, Howell Smith, and David Bradley. These honors were certainly well-deserved. Z T V .
