During 1987-88 the Rev. And Mrs. Robert Christopher of Sylva fright abovej, parents of Carol and Karen, V I H' served as co-presidents of the parents ... organization. On Parent's Day in October they visited with lots of other parents, including Mr. and Mrs. Boyce Harrill of Bostic, whose daughter Bobbi was a sophomore. The fellowship that day-in the cafeteria and elsewhere on the campus-proved very enjoyable. Campus Life

:fi The magnificent elm tree which had stood guard over the central campus throughout this century became afflicted with Dutch Elm Disease and had to be cut down by a tree service crew from Bakersville. The cutting operation lasted a weelc and drew crowds of spectators. When the old beauty, which had been planted by former college president R. L. Moore around the turn of this century, was finally gone, the campus seemed nalcedg and Blackwell Hall stood out as never before. Campus Life
