NF X i i .ci PQMES -1 ,..-v, ,.,4,,,-V , .g. r New Beginnings: s I reflect on my first year at Mars Hill, I recall the first drive up women's hill with my parents' station wagon loaded to the hilt and my carjust as full. I never knew that moving to school was such a big job. Loading the stuff, unloading the stuff, car- rying the stuff up the stairs and putting it in a cubicle smaller than the size of my bathroom at home. How was I supposed to make all that fit? That was just the begin- ning. Orientation started the following day with classes looming in the near future. Would I get lost? What classes would I take? Would I make new friends? Could I stand to live with my roommate? Ah, the questions of the first year of col- lege. As soon as I had these questions conquered, even more questions popped out of the blue to replace them. What would I major in? Which sorority should I join? What kind of friends should I asso- ciate with and-most important- who should I date? For many campus residents Parents' Day was the first opportunity for students to see their familys. A last minute check assures Linda Plants that she has everything for the first day of class. 6 Once the year got started, I began to answer my questions and I be- gan to fit into the college scene. I did not get lost and I chose the ap- propriate classes. I made good friends and my roommate drove me up the wall.
