Rick West New Chief justice in Spring judicial Council functions primarily to maintain guided judicial procedures as stated in the constitution of the SCA and in Gateway, the student handbook. judicial Council helps the Student Court operate in the most efficient manner. Members of the council include the faculty advisor to Student Court, the Chief justice, a Senate representative, the SCA President, and the Attorney General. House Council Writes Constitution The House Council of MHC is composed of all students living in campus residence halls. The purpose of this council is to promote student leadership and effective government among hall residents. House Council is involved in planning various activities for students living on campus. The council urges dormitory students to participate enthusiastically in campus living. This year the governing body of the residence halls has undergone some structural changes. A new constitution was written creating for the first time a workable, legal basis for dorm government. 5 LEFT: Speaker of Women's Council, Anita Russell, checks to find the right word for use in the new constitution. Student Affairs Passes Social Goals T- ' ' Composed of faculty, admin- istration and student leaders, the Student Affairs Council is one of the most important ,N legislative bodies on campus. All student proposals and SCA legislation must pass through this council before reaching the President. Members learn to see proposals from both the administration and the student viewpoints. Members include Academic Dean, Dean of Student Development, Associate Dean of Student Development, Student Court Advisor, Student Senate Advis- or, Student Senate Advisor, Chaplain, Faculty Representa- tive, SGA President, Vice- President, Secretary, Treasurer, Chief justice, and Speakers of -i Men's and Women's Councils.
