1iw'f:m- s I+ -.nv-nu.-.V - Upon entering college the student becomes aware that he must mold himself into an individual. A student may look like one hundred others, but his beliefs, ideas, goals, and ideals must be decidedly his ovvn. The college student also learns that he must be much more than an individual - he must be an individual who can function successfully as a cog in his circle of friends, his society, and his world.

'Q-Q-1 I' ,N -,Qu f-15' -A-X The 1968 Laurel is dedicated to a man very famil- iar to all members of the lVlars Hill campus and com- munity. Since joining the faculty in 1926, he has accepted many responsibilities and duties willingly and has seen them through to the end with a dedication that never stops. He joined the campus as a teacher of economics and government, but through his willingness to work for a college he loves, has achieved the role of academic dean. It has been a long road and not always an easy road, but his strong convictions and dedication to Mars Hill as an institution of education and a home for many individual students, have brought him to a posi- tion well deserving such a man. Although he shall be leaving us soon, we will not soon forget him. In sincere appreciation for service well rendered, we, the students, gratefully dedicate the 1968 Laurel to Dean Ralph lVI. Lee.
