I 3 i CJQDWXW As a superior student, as a loyal alumnus, as a thorough and in- spiring teacher, and as the beloved, dedicated, and competent president, Dr. Hoyt Blackwell has been identified with Mars Hill College since 1919. For twenty-eight years as president he has fully devoted the powers of his mind, his heart, and his hands to the support and development of the College. He has kept faith with the past, the present, and the future - with the students, with his fellow workers, and with the larger constituency of the College. Recognizing that his achievements will be recorded history, that their significance will be Written on the pages of time, and that their meaning will remain inscribed on the tablets of the hearts of those who have known him, the staff has the honor of affectionately dedicating to Dr. Blackwell the Laurel for 1966, in this, the last year of his dis- tinguished service as the president of Mars Hill College.
