just a lowly mountain laurel lifted gently from the humble earth. beauty deep to thrill the heart foreverg bearing life when living Sunshine poured its glowing, warming lightness through the concealing shelter giving tiny greenish-yellow forms of nature strength and vim for will of living. slowly, slowly, grows the mountain laurel basking long in sunshine's brilliant favorg lying limp on moss and rock as blazing lightning, clashing thunder, piercing daggers of melted steel. howling' zcphyrs, and threatening clouds hide the light with quelling darkness. swelling, bursting, vivid as the sunset breaking through the jagged, murky curtain, sparkling now, the laurel is a ruby. treasured, precious. living, never fading from your heart. used ot' old this simple laurel crested brows of youth for feats of valorg living symbol for deeds of courage, for thoughts of kindness. for acts of honor. laurel growing wild on sloping hillocks, laurel verdant still on brows of mortals. . . this laurel blending word and face and scene holding time's own mellowed memory- is ours.
