DR. HOYT BLACKWELL President VFW! TIIS ess: The present session has been one of the most significant in the history of Mars Hill College. The faculty and the students have been loyal and cooperative. It would be diificult to determine what the drop of one-third in enroll- ment has cost the college, particularly in those values which cannot be estimated in terms of money or other property. But this we know, there has been no lack of student leaders. The various organizations on the campus, religious and otherwise. have functioned well and the effects are evident in the spirit which now prevails among us. The LAUREL Staff have worked under serious restrictions and handicaps, but there is assurance that the book which they are producing will be worthy of the Mars Hill standards and ideals.
