Work Experience Gives Students Taste 0f Life Business Club - Mrs. Tritch, Kris White, Jodi Norton, Michelle Boyle, Mary Muska. Business Club - Need some stationery this year? What about a candle? lf so, the best place to find these items was near your friendly business club member. These indus- trious young people, along with raising money for projects and trips, did clerical work on a voluntary basis for some teachers. They also typed course names and teachers, names on to report cards. The club was advised by Mrs. Roberta Tritch and headed by Mary Ann Muska, Presi- dent, Michelle Boyle, Vice-President, Jody Norton, Secretary, and Chris White, Trea- surer. For recreation, they sponsored a skating party and all-night bowling. DECA - What is DECA? The Mars Chapter of the Distri- butive Education Clubs of America is an organization that teaches marketing, management, and merchandizing, devel- ops future business leaders, and in the words of sponsor, Mr. David Skurcenski, promotes understanding and appreciation for the responsibilities of our free enterprise system. The forty members sponsored a wide range of activities throughout the school year. A paper-recycling project was part of their community service. They also sponsored a bowling party, a hayride, a fashion show assembly, a Christ- mas party, the Career Education Day besides selling candles and sending cards to local servicemen. Mr. S. and five mem- bers attended the North Atlantic Regional Conference, for DECA, October 21-23 at Atlantic City. DECA - Kneeling: Jean Vogel, Judy Kaecher, Phyllis Whalen, Cheryl Revoir. olunteers Aid Struggling Students Office Aides - Chris Crawford, Sherry Grannon, Linda Thompson. Office Aides H The Office Aides under the sponsor- ship of Mrs. Mary Jane Heckman provided office help for Mrs. Althea Nevsimal, Mr. Arno Thompson, the library, and some teachers. This is the last year in which the organization, as such, will exist. Next year, the program will be handled by the Business Club as a service project. A. V Aides - Movie Projectors . . . tape recorders. . . overhead projectors . . . record players . . . Mrs. Betty Furka and her staff of A.V. Aides were responsible for these and many more pieces of audio-visual equip- ment. Not only did they have to locate missing equipment and distribute the requested equipment, but also they had to keep all the equipment in good working order. The A.V. Aides succeeded in keeping Mars running with the times. .. 4 ,I 5 .... X A. VZ Aides - Seated: Mrs. Furka, Donna Cashdollar, Kathy Kopicko. Mars Brightened By Candle Sales Culture Club 4 Le Cercle de Culture, der Kultur Vereignschaft, el Club Culture - whatever language you say it in the Culture Club was a new extension of the past language clubs. Twenty-five students, enrolled or interested in either French, German, or Spanish, joined together to learn about and share the cultures and customs of their respective countries. The Culture Club was sponsored by the language teachers: Miss Belich, Mrs. McLaughlin, and Mrs. Schnur. Members of the governing body, the Coub Council, included: Carolyn Cumane, Sandy Fisher, Martin Gaynard, Gloria Linn, Alice Stoudt, and Janet Weber. The planned activities of the year were a Christmas Party, a Easter Celebration, a Spring Banquet, and a field trip. Culture Club - Seated: Sandra Fisher, Martin Gaynord, Janet Weber, Carolyn Currane. Standing: Alice Stoudt, Miss Belich, Mrs. Schnur, Mrs. McLaughlin, Gloria Linn. 25 PNA - Seated: Nancy Herd, Judith Barber, Jill Bajuszik. Standing: Mrs. Hammond, Mrs. Cooper, Mrs. Fowler. FNA -e Members of the Future Nurses of America all had the deep driving ambi- tion to become modern-day Florence Nightingales. This set the pace for the goal of the organization, which was to look into the different nursing programs. The fourteen members became involved in many activities including a tour of St. Margaret,s Hospital, a visit to Children's Hospital with their Christmas projects and selling stationery. The FNA was sponsored by school nurses, Mrs. Norma Cooper, Mrs. Edith Fowler and Mrs. Jean Hammond. The club was under the leadership of officers Nancy Herd, Presi- dent, Judy Barber, Vice Presidentg and Jill Bajuszik, Secretary-Treasurer. Look out America, here they come f our fu- ture nurses!
