Homecoming Came Up Rosie The annual Homecoming Weekend, honoring the class of 1964, revolved around a Holidays theme. The Homecoming Court, the floats, the band, and the cheerleaders started the festivities the eve of the game with the traditional parade to the football field. The nine girls who comprised the Homecoming Court were: Sue Barton, Sue Dietrick, Dawn Harvey, Kris Hasley, Bonnie Huesman, Melanie Nicklas, Connie Saul, Rosemary Smith, and Aurye Tovar. The dif- ferent floats, sponsored by various organizations, included: a Halloween float made by the Seniors, a Ground Hog Day Hoat built by the Juniors, a U. N. Dayvfloat constructed by the AFS Club, a Valentine's Day float created by the Band, and the Stage Crew- Thespian float depicting Easter. During the half-time performance Rosie Smith was named the Homecoming Queen, she received her crown from last yearis Queen, Bonnie Blair, and her flowers from the team quarterback, Paul Harbison. The winners of the float contest were also named, the Stage Crew-Thespian float hopped away with first prize, a broken-hearted band came in second, and the Seniors received a haunting third prize. The football team fought hard against Deer Lakes, providing an exciting game. It ended up a tear jerker, though, for the mighty Planets lost with a final score of 17 to 14. Homecoming was climaxed with Saturday night's dance. The group Pegasus provided music for the evening, Student Council furnished the decorations and refreshments. The dance ended before the ubewitching hourn leaving one more happy holidayi' to add to the memories of those involved. Float-making - There I was - sit- ting in my home, minding my own business when it happened - I was snatched from my safe, secure World of the Kleenex box. My poor body was unmercifully folded, accordian-style, and strangled with a piece of Wire. Then I was scalped at one end and pulled apart as if I were a piece of cotton. It had happened: I was a flower! Isnlt metamorphosis something? , ,9 i, 'Q Q
