In a school system, the iob becomes specialized and takes on a definite form. General science affords for students a basic founda- tion for learning. Another fundamental science, Earth and Space, was made more interesting with the pur- chase of a planetarium. It allows students to view the solar system. Biology, taught in tenth grade, explains the func- tions of organisms. This year, a new program, known as the B.S.C.S., deals with the discoveries found through experimentation. Physics illustrates basic concepts of matter and energy. It delves into such things as Einstein's theory and the laws of gravity. Chemistry, studied in the senior year, explains to students the composition of matter. Combined with daily studies in the text book, laboratory work is conducted twice a week. The field of the sciences is the most intriguing part of the interested student's academic years. To hear and understand, to see and comprehend, to experi- ment and succeed, all of these are primary goals set by the sciences. CHEMISTRY EXPERIMENT is conducted by Chuck Scott in safety of the fume hood. 19
