A Team of evalualors represenling lhe Middle Allanlic Siaies Accrediling Associalion sfudied ihe high school in March, l964. Resulis were received in lale fall, Mars became an accrediled school disiricl' wi-lh a high raiing. Due 'ro legislaiion passed by ihe slaie congress, Pennsylvania school dislricls were required lo merge for a more eflicieni sys- iem. Allhough 'rhe Mars Area Join? School was virlually unaffecled, lhe school board diminished in size from 20 members fo an ln- lerim Operaling Commillee of nine. This reduclion was accom- plished in January by an eleciion of nine school direclors from The exisiing 20. Aided by lhe Advisory Commiliee composed of The remaining members, ihe lnlerim Operaiing Commiiree assumed ihe cluiies of 'rhe Board.
