Faculty Look at the Mars High School Facultyl You would have to travel a long distance before youd find a nicer more cooperative group of teachers. They are interested in the pupils not only as scholars but as close friends also. They are here for the better- ment of the student body as a whole and their great- est desire is that they be looked on not only as teachers but as persons who are more than willing to give help or guidance to anyone of the pupils Ordinarily with the word teacher goes a common feeling of restriction and dictation The teacher in students eyes is a person who stands in front of the room dictating what they should do when and how they should do it Also they believe teachers to be ones who are ready to pounce on them when they make the slightest wrong move and are unreasonably cruel in dealing with correction or punishment No credit is given the teacher for all the long hours and hard toil he has had in planning and hguring out ways and means to make the lessons and studies more interesting and easy in trying to bring about open discussion and periods for asking questions Their whole being while they re here in school is for the student After all a teacher is really a human being having likes and dislikes and living a regular normal life He has been trained in this type of work through ex perience and higher education Therefore dont you think that they should know a lot more about life and its problems than the younger people still in school? It might be correct to say that when you are a Senior you probably have overcome any ill feeling toward teachers because as you have been around them and perhaps talked with them you have auto matically lost your sense of resentment toward them There are so many many questions that you can ask your teacher as friend to friend that perhaps they can answer to your satisfaction Seniors will be leav ln! and beglnnlng 5On1ethlf'lg new whether lt be college or a job If a person has gotten advice or council from someone older than himself he has an air of confidence and determinatton about him that can t be beat ,-'15 X 5 Freshmen have just come into new surroundings and found themselves in new and almost complicated situations. Sophomores and uniors are busy people but if they are sensible they will find time to listen to their teachers. Surely there are problems which arise and times when nothing runs along smoothly in every- body's high school life no matter what the year may b . Certainly there are times when the advice of a friend would be greatly appreciated and perhaps set someone on the rtght track If there are times like that for you why not turn to your teacher? He will always flfrle for you Take the teachers right in our own Mars High Those who have been here for a long time have proven their ability and willingness to help over a period of years And the proof of their success is how far some of the graduates have gone after leav ing here After school almost any night persons may be found standing around various teachers desks con versing very friendly Several Seniors talking over their life to come in college with a teacher askxng for guidance makes a nice comfortable picture Yew we can really be proud of these teachers and cherish their friendships for years to come When the pupils of Mars High arrived at the b ginning of this year they not only saw new faces in the student body but also in the faculty The ma jority of the new teachers were just fresh out of college and had a determined look on their faces to make good They settled down and became real teachers The appearance was not the only thing that was changed with their coming The activites of the school were enlivened and enriched not only in the classrooms but also in the social doings We have benefited greatly by them All the credit possi ble should be bestowed upon them because of the splendid work they have done' Taking all in consideration, we know that they like us and down deep in our hearts we realize we have that same feeling toward them whether we show it or not M+ 24N W0 gsrmf 1501.
