Navy and Ma- rine Option Midshipmen went their separate ways in Naval Science courses. While the Marine Options were busy learning how to be Ma- rines, the Navy Options were busy learning how to get lost on the high seas. HMO boardsit became a dirty word and some Midshipmen com- plained of nightmares in which they were chased by giant parallel rulers. In the battalion, these Midship- men got their first taste of leader- ship and responsibility. Holding po- sitions ranging from squad leader to staff billets, they learned that these jobs are not as easy as they look.
