DRILL TEAM In September the ,65-366 Drill Team was organized with the addition of ten freshman to ten returning veterans. Commanded by Midshipman 2!c Joseph l-losteny, the team emphasized precision and coordination in their drilling move- ments. To further develop coordination, emphasis was placed on inter-platoon spirit, with the amplification of '6God's Squad Competition Cstringent competition based on inspection, drill and military knowledge within the four squadsj and a couple of unparalleled parties. The team made their first appearance in the Tip-Off Parade, exhibiting tradi- tional marching movements. Appearing at the Loyola-Marquette basketball game later in the year, they displayed a modified version of this year's routine, and also performed during the parade honoring astronaut Lovell. The efforts of the team reached their climax at the annual Madison Drill Meet. The Drill Platoon was particularly outstanding this year in participation in the Unitis extracurricular activities. DP almost single handedly built the Tip-Off floats, and consistently proved itself the mainstay of Anchor 8z Chain. In addition, the team kept up its tradition by producing five of the seven winners of the Midship- man of the Month awards. v 23
