Dere Fohse, I'm hevin the time of my life down here at Markette, gittin more edication then I know what to do with. I learnt one thing rightaway and thet was thet atority counts more then edication. Ever day we hey a PT class. When I first git here I think it means iiPIowin Time but I learnt difrunt durn quick. Sum young feller name of Reichert, lutenant thet is, got nuthin more to do then hollar et us an make us run, jump, and jenerally act the fool. He warns us fer weaks about the poor condishun we was in, but thet bulge heis got ainit baggy trowsers. Well the first trick we do is the Indian rope trick. The mane idee is to clime up usin no feet and clime down usin no hands. More fun but no skin! Next thing is the squat trust . . . you squat and than trust you git credit fer more then you do. Lt. thou-Know-Whoii counted mine and this is how he done h. thne-two-three . . . legs all the wayback . . . two- three-four . . . you ainit doin em right . . . three-four- five . . . keep yore head up, straiten yore legs . . . How meny did I hev? . . . Oh well . . . four-five-six . . . Timeis up. Stop! H-m-m-m, six squat thrusts and I see thet you did forty last time . . . must uv hed a buddy count fer you! Thet there was the hard part uv the test. As fer THE FIRST LETTER the rest, there was reely none . strain, thet is. The only trubble I hed was with a noo kind of pullup. It is suposed to train men to git out uv hatches of burnin PT boats. If I was in a burnin boat I wood not grab the hatch. Do you remember thet time when I was a leetle feller and caught thet pretty Ieetle skunk? I donit supose you hare to remember. Well, enyway, I hev good reason to beleave thet there is a skunk in sumbodyis locker and if I hetch the Ieetle feller I wil shore treet him right. W'ell, fohse, gotta be gittin over to the Jim if I want to hetch thet Ieetle feller. Yore luvin sun, MUFO FIRE IBILL? Sacked in tight as a bug in a rug With dreams aplenty and covers up snug, Mufo dreams of that day when HeIll wear bow ties and loud socks again. Sleeping soundly he commenced to snore With such force that it rattled the door. But alas and alack the fire alarm sounded And Mufo awoke slightly dumbfounded. In the dark of the room he stumbled, iiWhere in h- are my pantsWi he mumbled. At last he found them and rushed into the night, But somehow the pants didnit seem right. He tugged and pulled and everything tried, But the pants would not cover his hide. The fellows around Mufo began to h'owl- How was he to know his pants was a towel?
