Dentistry in rl X it' it : nf ws-sf' A 530,000 grant by the United States Public Health service in January, 1961, was made in support of dental researclz. Specifically, the grant called for an inves- tigation of the antigenic composition of saliva. The same firm also awarded re- search fellowships to a group of dental students. These fellowships give dental students an opportunity to explore the re- search lields under the guidance of re- search workers. A four year experimental program in dental educatiozi was inaugurated in 1959. This was made possible through a 580,000 grant from the United States Pub- lic Health service.

M4 X A ef qtssfi:-Q In September, 1960, the National Science foundation awarded the department of electrical engineering 321,500 for a two-year program of research. The research topic was the interaction of strong electric fields and tiuids in motion. At the same time, the department of mechani- cal engineering was given 515,300 for an eighteen- month program of study on the stress distribution of various plastic materials. A local industrial firm made a 595,000 grant last year in support of a research project in engi- neering. The grant was to provide salary and tui- tion for a graduate assistant assigned to the proj- ect.
