As we reflecf back on our Marqueffe career, fhere comes fo our minds fhe name of a man whose consfanf confacf wifh us has been a vifal facfor in fhe way we have lived our lives. We shall never forgef his iug lisf, his broad back, his laconic fear-of-God insfilling commenf, his phone calls home when we were sick, his uncanny abilify fo remember a whole schoolful of names and faces. This man we speak of is our beloved Fafher Boyle. He is fhe one member of fhe faculfy fha? each of us sooner or lafer comes fo know personally. As freshmen fhe prospecf of making fhis acquainfance in fhe wesf hall engendered wifhin us a feeling of uffer fear. Buf wifh fhe passing of ears we came fo see fhaf fhough he is firm when if comes fo school dis- ciphne, fhere are ofher facefs fo his characfer which are far differenf from fhe sfern faced individual of fhe iug room. We do nof fhink if is an exaggerafion fo say fhaf Fafher Boyle wifh fhe help of his bullefin board is responsible for fhe success of almosl' all sfudenf acfivifies, for nof only does he posf his own jug lisf fhere, buf he also posfs fhe innumerable small defails which confribufe so much +o sfrengfhening school spirif here af Marqueffe. Do we wonder if our acfivify is meefing? Do we wonder if our clubs and feams have won fheir lafesf confesf? WELCO E T0 ILWA KEE During fhe pasf school year an evenf 'rook place which has meanf and will mean very much fo fhe members of fhe Archdiocese of Milwaukee. On Sep- fember 24, l954, Alberf Gregory Meyer was enfhroned as Archbishop of Mil- waukee in a beaufiful and elaborafe ceremony af Sf. John's Cafhedral. Archbishop Meyer is a nafive Milwaukeean. He knows fhe minds of fhe people of Milwaukee: he knows fhe spirifual needs of our communify. This knowledge, coupled wifh his experience as Bishop of Superior, assures us fhaf he will be able fo perform fhe dufies of fhis office well. While serving in Superior, Archbishop Meyer showed in many ways his infense inferesf in furfhuring Cafholic educafion for his people, Cafholic edu- cafion fhaf is so sorely needed, parficularly in fhe ouflying disfricfs of fhis archdiocese. We can be sure fhaf our children are going fo benefif from fhe work in educafion fhaf Archbishop Meyer is and will be doing. As Marqueffe High men we have a parficular inferesf in Archbishop Meyer for he, foo, was a Marqueffe High sfudenf. Alfhough he was here for only one year, we are cerfain fhaf he acquired a sizable porfion of fhaf famed Marqueffe spirif. We are proud and happy fo know fhaf a man can rise from a place in life such as we now hold fo such an exfremely self-sacrificing and respecfed posifion. We, fhe sfudenfs of Marqueffe High School, wish fo welcome you, Arch- bishop Meyer, as a Milwaukeean and a Marqueffer, buf chiefly as a devofed servanf of God, back fo Milwaukee, and we wish fo assure you fhaf you will be in our prayers as you are in fhe prayers of fhe fhousands of ofher mem- bers of your flock.
