The ’85 Cub Football team plagued with injuries and lack of depth with only twelve people out for the team suffered a disappointing 1 and 8 season. Even so, the team with seven returning letterwinners still managed to play many good games and beat Benedict in the final game in front of a Homecoming crowd to end the season on a winning note. Those receiving honors were: Mike Larson, First team All- Conference defense (linebacker) and All-Area Team by Grand Island Independent. Dana Harris, First Team All-Conference Defense (End) and Honorable Mention by Grand Island Independent. Greg comes into the huddle as they announce the starting line-up.

The '85-'86 Girls’ Basketball Team was very successful in terms of their 14 win and 3 loss record. There was some feeling of being unsuccessful because of the premature ending of the season during the Sub-District Tournament finals. The sting of that defeat has a tendency to linger, but it too will pass. Other successes recorded during the season were as follows: Crossroads Conference Regular Season Champions with a 9-1 record. Crossroads Conference Tourney Third Place Winner. Crossroads Conference Tournament Scoring Record (70 points vs Benedict) Final Top Ten Ranking in D-1 (8th in the World Herald, 9th in the Lincoln dournal Star and 3rd in the Grand Island area). Gave the D-1 State Champion, Exeter, their only defeat. (a 59-56 overtime win for Marquette) With successes such as those mentioned above it is easy to commend the young ladies on this team for their efforts and for the example they set for teams that will follow them.
