CUB’S VOLLEYBALL - 1983 - The Girl’s Volleyball Team learned Hy ' 5 y a great deal throughout this season. : pe a ie Everyone of the members of this year’s team will be returning for next year. Lisa Ferguson led the team with 34 out of 137 good serves. Melanie Holtan had 55 Ace Spikes. Monica Hutsell and Wendy Blum led setting with 93% and 92%, respectively. Team accuracy for serving was 86%. The returning letterwinners were Lisa Ortegren and Wendy Blum. At the’ completion of the season, the team voted on Charlie Hustle - Wendy Blum, Most Improved Player - Billy Carnes, and Most Valuable Player - Wendy Blum. Melanie Holtan was All Confer- ence Honorable Mention, All State Honorable Mention, and All Area Honorable Mention. Wendy Blum was All Area Second Team. This year the girls’ basket- ball team had a record of 7 wins and 9 losses. The Lady Cubs placed 8th in the CRC with a record of 3 and 7. Even though the season started slow, the girls were able to pull off a District Runner-up position. This year the team set a season record with 40.6 rebounds per game. There were nine girls to letter this year. Awards were given at the end of the season to the following: Glenda Nutzman, best offensive player; Melanie Holtan, best defensive player; and Billy Carnes, most improved player.
