he Ne Senior leader Bill Griffith pushes off a Hordville At the beginning of the football season, Mr. Gilson signed a Bulldog as he tries to gain extra yardage contract with the football squad. The contract stated that if the football team won 2 games in a row, he would shave off his mustache. As you can see, the contract is being fulfilled! Tne Marquette Cubs football team ended the season on a winning note. The Clubs won the last two games of the season against the Giltner Hornets and the McCool Mustangs. Cubs captains were Bill Griffith and Jim VanBibber, two seniors. Also providing additional leadership were seniors Wes Beck and Brent Sanderson. The team, under the new coach Carl Abele, worked hard and long preparing for the games on Friday nights. The guys all worked hard, but they also had their fun times — like all the dog piles, remember, Bill Manka? Over all, the season was good. Coach Abele was happy with the leadership that everyone showed throughout the season. He was also pleased with the hard work and the determination. What about next year? Coach Abele thinks the season looks promising. With a group of kids who are willing to work hard and show the determination to want to win, the season looks to be successful! Junior Dan Beck dodges two players to gain yardage on the punt return.

Hat day set off Spirit Week for Homecoming '81; then 198 4 HOMECOMING WEEK favorite food day, toga day, beaten bulldog day, and biue-gold day on Friday. The countdown led to October 16, when Marlena Nelson gave a welcome for the afternoon program. The Cub-ka-zoo marching drill team danced and awards were given to the best dressed of the week Suspense was then broken when Bill Griffith and Linda Johnston were announced King and Queen. The program was topped off with a parade That Friday night, a football game was played against Bradshaw. After an 8-8 half-time score, the Cubs were defeated 24-14 A dance after the game highlighted the Homecoming activities Homecoming Royalty Linda, Shell, and Cindy smile for the camera.
